Just got two 4 star players in UTs backyard this week in Jaylon King and Justice Dingle (2nd best player in KY and 14th best LB nationally).

Neither of those guys were takes. King is a DB that runs a 4.7 at best. I wouldn't play that card if it wasn't true.

24-7 has them both as 3 stars. Congrats on the get and cracking the top 50. I also wouldn't consider Bowling Green, KY in UT's backyard.
I'll help illustrate the term for you:
Lyn-J Dixon - 4 Star APB from Butler, GA
Jamarcus Chatman - 3 Star DL from Rome, GA
Anthony Grant - 3 Star RB from Buford, GA
Jatavious Harris - 3 Star WR from Milledgeville, GA
These players would be considered in Ga Tech's backyard. A player 225 miles away in another state is not "in UT's backyard". I would add that Ensworth is in Nashville (175 miles away from Knoxville) technically, that player was in Vanderbilt's backyard...not UT's. He was a hard Vandy lean.

A true 4.7 (electronic) coming out of high school isn't slow by any means. For frick sake, there's guys in the league that run that at corner. I think Terrance Mitchell out of Oregon ran a shade faster.

I do wish there was a way to vet offers on 247. It use to be a good way to gauge the caliber of the player. Now they're practically meaningless with how many non-commitable offers that go out.

There were two NFL corners that ran a 4.62 at the combine and were drafted in the first two rounds - one came out Florida (Tabor). A high school senior that runs an electronic 4.7 can usually shave .08 - .15 on the 40 by the time of the combine with any professional training. Cliff Harris at Oregon ran a 4.65 electronic but was probably the most dynamic I'd seen at Oregon (that's with several guys drafted) because he had elite quickness. The only thing a 40 tells you is if you will get beat by deep threat. With a 4.7 forty I'd like to see an elite shuttle time though.
So, yes, as long as the 40 is an electronic timed 4.7, I wouldn't be too concerned about speed.

You are finding exceptions to the rule. 4.7 is slow for a DB and that type of speed is a liability on the field. Tennessee had some DBs that ran in that range in Dooley's last year and it lead to the worst defense in school history. Usually a 4.7 out of high school isn't slow, but it is slow for an SEC corner.
Not sure on Andrew Johnson, haven't heard much about him. This staff is very weird with their linebackers and are only taking one this cycle. They wanted an athletic linebacker almost hybrid safety by the looks of their targets.

Firstly, I am not cherry picking. A 4.7ish corner works at every level depending on scheme - and there's tons of examples and I just happened to pick NFL combine kids playing at the highest level. Every year you have 4.65ish corners get drafted. Oregon was a zone blitzing team and made a living on kids that were a tad slow in the 40 but with elite 20 yard splits, 3 cone and shuttle times. It doesn't surprise me with King's athleticism and length that two zone blitzing d coordinators wanted him.
I'd much rather have a kid with slower than average 40 but elite shuttle, 3 cone and 20 yard split times than a kid with elite 40 and average shuttle, 3 cone and 20 yard split times.
