I'm hoping for him to go with OM to minimize the impact on us. A run game in that offense isn't happening, and I don't want to get smashed by him every year at LSU.
We had a nobody RB rush for 880 yards behind two freshman tackles while LSU will always have an elite back, but keep hedging

Yeah while being the only back on your team. He had a shite YPC despite everyone and their mother dropping 7 because of your passing game with Kelly and those WR's. You just aren't going to have a consistent running game when he's only getting 12 touches per game in an offense trying to run 100 plays or whatever Hugh's goal is.
But who knows, maybe he slows things down, he's going to have to do that anyway if he wants his new DC to have a chance.

I wish he would come to LSU.

He averaged 5 yards a carry. Just stop.

OM's rushing offense national rank under Freeze:
2016- 97
2015- 45
2014- 75
2013- 42
2012- 51
Schematicly, OM is a middle of the road rushing offense at best. I think Skirp's point is valid in that OM won't magically jump in the top 15 because of Akers. A RBs value will never be fully realized in that scheme. It's a pragmatic point of view. While I'm typically a pragmatist, I don't want Akers at OM. It's a perception thing. "Despite the disater this class has been, we can still grab the 2 best players in MS."

This kid is great. LSU signing him will make me smile.

I've never seen an elite recruit like this that I could see go to 4 or 5 schools this late realistically.
OSU
LSU
Ole Miss
FSU
TN
I really think are all still in the mix.

You're not. It's OM, LSU, or FSU. I don't really think FSU is in it but Jimbo gets that late in-home. Maybe he can wow him.

Who said we would become a top 15 rushing team?
There are multiple reasons OM has not ran the ball exceptionally well.
1. Scheme (rpo)
2. No Elite back
3. No bell cow taking most of the carries
4. Lack of overall carries
The scheme is changing according to Freeze and the other three would be fixed by an elite back like Cam. Freeze understands recruiting enough that if you ever want another elite back you have to feed the one you have. Thats why he plays elite freshman and gives them touches. Its for future recruiting.
I love how one year/and or one game changes yalls outlook on the difference in the two programs when both teams give a damn. Can you imagine saying this this time last year or the year before, that you dont want the best player in the past decade out of MS going to OM simply because of perception? With Chad OM had the most prolific offense in the league without a running game, but lets not fear OM getting an elite player at the one position they havent had one. Good lord.

quote:You don't follow recruiting much huh? Last year Demetris Robertson was a 5 star that had a CRAZY rollercoaster recruitment. Much more confusing than Akers.

With that said Akers said its down to OM, LSU and FSU. The dead period begins Sunday night and all 3 schools have an in-home scheduled for Sunday.
He's played this one close to the vest. It's hard to get a Mississippi kid out of Mississippi that Ole Miss and State wants. With that said this is a good time to do it with the shape of State and potential sanctions at OM.
Flip a coin between FSU and LSU. I'll say FSU right now because they have more proven recruiters but I hope I'm wrong.

FSU - 3% (Jimbo still has an inhome upcoming)

Hope he goes to LSU. Come on down Clyde Edwards-Helaire.
You do realize that Edwards-Helaire is the change of pace back. Even if Akers commits it doesn't effect him whatsoever, he knows he is the change of pace/receiving back in this recruiting class.

-Freeze has been an OC or HC and ran his offense for 9 years. I don't buy for a second he's suddenly changing his scheme in year 10. Recruiting wise, that's absolutely what he should be saying to get Cam. No qualms there.
-My "position" has never changed. I want Ole Miss to lose every game they play. I don't pick against them every week because I want to be rational in on-field results. I was just saying that Skirp's post is a legitimate rational thought. In a perfect world, I would prefer Akers at OSU or FSU so we don't have to play him. However, LSU and OM look to be the front runners at this moment. I think most SEC fans would agree that LSU would get more out of him if we're basing that opinion on history.

You've beaten LSU twice in 25 years. Cam being there or not being there doesnt change that. Yall care about beating one school, so yes, Bama fans or other schools may have that logically viewpoint, but you guys dont.

Sunday will be the last day Akers will meet with coaches before he makes a college decision. He expects Ole Miss back at the house. LSU as well (Orgeron has already been in-home). Georgia and Tennessee are coming. However nobody more prominent than Florida State’s Jimbo Fisher is slated to come through to make a final pitch.
Gonna bet you never come back in this thread to say your wrong. Pussys usually never do.

I can't say exactly, but I feel like he has atleast been on campus three times? So many peeps say he may choose OM to be closer to home....but, they forget BR is just as far from Clinton as OM. Its rather he wants to play for his home state. I think his heart is telling him to go to OM but his head is telling him to go to LSU. Should be interesting to see how this unfolds.
