As good as they've been, that's an interesting stat.

Have they been good for a long time? I follow recruiting pretty heavily but it's hard to keep high schools in GA or Bama or Cali or TX straight.

Certainly since the turn of the millennium. Dexter Wood went 118-17 from 1995-2005 including a state record 47 straight wins. They’ve won 13 state titles in 22 years this millennium.

Another Gwinnett County “miss” for UGA - the Bermuda Triangle of Georgia recruiting.

Gwinnett county had more players drafted than 42 states last draft. We need to figure the mojo out and end it

They’ve had ONE player drafted by the NFL in the last 20 years. I know that will change with Downs

Downs didn't play for Buford.

Yeah.

He played at Mill Creek.

That being said, it’s going to change with Seth McLaughlin. Justin Haynes is going to be a good one too. No doubt Isaiah Bond is good enough to be a draft pick in a couple of years as well.

Saw an interesting stat for Buford players that makes me not mad that we keep missing on them-

They’ve had ONE player drafted by the NFL in the last 20 years. I know that will change with Downs, Haynes, etc, but still a pretty amazing statistic.

ETA: And of course it isn’t true. But, what is true is they haven’t had a player picked higher than Round 5 since prior to 2002. Maybe it’s true that Buford players peak in HS and don’t develop further.

One of the many reasons he picked Ohio State is Larry Johnson (Bosa brothers, Chase Young) development at DE and his mother loved LJ.
