The only time you ever hear about UGA DBs is when they transfer to Auburn.

Haha I'm just messing. I love UGA, great city and even better women, but Donte will be wearing P&G.

We all knew it is a really long shot. Even if he commits. He visits LSU 3 days later

Corey Raymond is our DB coach and recruits our DBs. Tre White and Jamal Adams will both be NFL starters one day, not to mention guys like Jalen Mills, Rashard Robinson, Jalen Collins, etc.

To be fair, Rashard Robinson has to (A) get back on the team, and (B) stop failing classes before we talk about NFL. But DBU is absolutely poised to heavily add to their NFL alumni.

I like UGA, but be serious here right now we have the hot hand in placing db's in the league.

Yea going to a school who is constantly putting db's in the nfl is a terrible choice. Not to mention if he goes to lsu he will be close to his family. Terrible choice right?

In a vacuum, it isn't a terrible decision, but compared to his other choice, I consider it to be a poor decision. Terrible or horrible is probably a bit strong language, but this is the internet.

On one hand you have a school that offered months after the other and almost as an afterthought, recruiting him out of position. It's like they didn't even watch his video just read about him on Rivals and decided they should offer since he was in their state. He could go there, into a deeper depth chart and be likely a nickelback (since that's what he was recruited as), at least initially, or he could consider the other hand.

In that other hand is the first school that offered, the coach that saw his ability when his LA counterpart didn't notice Donte sitting right under his nose. This school offered immediately and wants him as their #1 CB, the field corner. It is a more inviting depth chart, offering immediate playing time as the top corner on the field, under a superior defensive backs coach, at a better academic institution (as always, dependent on his program choice and I'm not sure what major he's looking for).

It's a faster path to the NFL for him and honestly one that would set him up better (field CB vs nickel, more responsibility and knowledge imparted to him sooner, etc). It's not a shot at LSU, it's just frustrating to need bigtime DBs so badly, have so much more to offer, at least as far as playing time and spotlight goes, and still watch the guy that has been your #1 DB target all year likely go into a situation where he could possibly even end up red-shirted by a team that didn't even notice him until well after we'd offered.

We do the same thing in our state. Now I get that we offered first and offer immediate PT. But it will be really tough to get him out of LA. He knows he can ride the bench for 2 years show out his 3rd and leave. It seems to be what they all do. Or he can come to Athens start vs Bama (if not earlier). Its his choice, no ones but his. If he comes to Athens I will be ecstatic. But I will not fault him for staying at home.

Maybe if you'd said it about the first post, it was closer to one.

It has more to do with Pruitt>>Raymond and we want him at field ($$$$$) while they want him at nickel ($). It's a better opportunity for him both immediately and in the long run. Perhaps he sees that, but I've a feeling he makes a poor choice on NSD.

do you really believe that?

You could make a case for Pruitt being a better all around defensive coach but Raymond is no slouch as a DB coach.

Well, Pruitt took a unit that featured at season's end:
CB: RFr walk-on
CB: TFr 4*
Star: Sr 4*
S: So 3*
S: TFr 3*

and made it a reasonable SEC unit. That's pretty unreal actually.

If Donte stays at LSU...which I'm sure he will....it's for no other reason than it being his home state. LSU's coaches will have jack shite to do with it.He has just as much opportunity if not more at UGA.
