Poster on our 247 page made a valid point. Westmoreland is an OLB atm, but absolutely has the frame that would likely move him to a ILB at the next level. UGA has so many of these types of guys on campus already that it just didn't make sense to take very many more. I think the present projection for their class 20 or so. They may take one possibly 2 of this type of player

ow often can Georgia accept a instate recruits commitment and then tell him to look around before the high school coaches turn against you

I think this happens at every school (or most of them). If the coach does it right, and gives them plenty of time, it should not be an issue.

Not sure that is what happened here.

Actually we undersigned last class, so we will probably be taking closer to 27. I always find it odd how fans of a team seem to take it so personally when a kid decides to transfer. It's a part of the game.

If Georgia gets a better player.....great! If not we move along and look more.

It will be hard to tell for awhile who go the better end of the deal. We can compare which player is ranked higher, but sometimes a player plays well above his ranking and sometimes they play below their ranking. I suspect Westmoreland will play well above his ranking.

it helps even more if you help the kid find another school.
Not sure if that happened, but with the ties we have with SC it's possible Muschamp, or Kirby gave SC a heads up that he was a really good player.

i can assure you Muschamp did no such thing, there is absolutely no love lost between the two parties here...Westmoreland was offered by the Muschamp staff and when Beamer got on board they slowed all recruiting down to see who had offers and who would fit the new schemes...Mike Peterson was held over from the previous staff and was Westmorelands recruiter so when UGA stopped talking to Westmoreland often Peterson jumped in and the rest is where we are now. I do believe we got a great player with high upside and glad kirby and crew dropped the ball here.

The way chump and his staff left here and the inside shite they pulled with our db group there is no doubt Beamer wouldn't have anything to do with him.

Makes sense. It's not easy when you get fired to still have the warm and fuzzies for the team that fired you....even if you did deserve it.

I think you have a good solid player with a lot of upside. I do kind of think we told the kid to look around because of what another poster said. From what I have read and heard, we have gotten some attention from a couple of very high ranked players....and they are more along the DE and DT position.

I hope he does well, and I'm sure he will.

I lived in Griffin for many, many years and still have ties there. Griffin has been a huge football town for well over 50 years. They usually put out some extremely talented kids. Years ago, there was a saying, "The road to the NFL goes through Griffin, Georgia." No matter who the coach is, they seem to produce good quality kids. He'll do well for you.

Muschamp and Trob were telling players, especially the db room, to opt out and/or transfer. Their ego and lack of class showed big time
