For those who are not educated on a subject, yes, which is why I'm handling your ignorance gracefully.

I'm afraid you are too emotional with this subject to see why Texas rules the roost, and will most likely continue to do so. Texas is a lot like the Deep South states. College athletics is the window in which much of the state's population views the university. UT's domination from the beginning created a large fan following, and thus established them as the preeminent program in the state of Texas. That scenario is similar in Alabama, Tennessee, Georgia, etc. That's not to say that the other universities within the state's borders do not compete in other areas on a more level playing field. On the contrary, Texas A&M, much like Auburn in the state of Alabama, have negligible differences in terms of what they offer academically, versus the dominant athletic program.

I agree with just about everything you said. My only point is that UT's place on the totem pole is not fixated.

Nothing ever is. Alabama could have some watershed event that limits its ability to compete on the football field. If that happened, and Alabama was inept for 30 years, I'm sure the state wouldn't be 75% pro-Alabama anymore. However, it's hard to see events like that happening, considering how the past has went. Ultimately, that's our only real tool to gauge what lies ahead. It's up to Texas A&M, and the decisions they make moving forward, to change the climate in the state of Texas.

Completely true. However, the event(s) needed to begin that shift is (are) not nearly as drastic as you suggest. In the 80s and 90s you couldn't find a Longhorn shirt amidst all of the Aggie gear in Houston.

In my lifetime (born in 1978), the series is tied at 17-17. When I graduated, the series was 14-8 in favor of A&M.

You could argue that the overall dominant athletic program (8 National Championships in less than three years) is A&M. Sips haven't won a national title in anything since 2006.
