I wonder if this weather(flooding) will push his commitment back? Or will he do it via social media.
Per Jimmy
Devonta Smith's Monday announcement postponed due to flooding.

He just needs to get it over with, if Pettito is there he's going there. Maybe he's holding out hope we hire Pettito

Don't tell that to Bama fans.

He's probably already committed to the Bama staff. He's just pushing back the public announcement until things get back to normal.

He did the respectful thing, so I'll give him credit for that. No one down here is really interested in a recruit's public announcement right now.

Now pushing his announcement all the way to NSD. The U and LSU making serious pushes. I think Bama and Miami might be even now.

I almost wish he would just get it over with. Smith is a baller but I've already kinda written him off. I would hate for us to slow play a guy like Mathis in Monroe waiting on a receiver when we are trying to build depth in the 3-4.

I was with you a month ago, but it's important to remember Donte Jackson's recruitment. We offered late, he loved UGA, we were outside his first top 5, the staff never let off, and he ended up staying home. I think the floods have made him reconsider what's important to him. I still expect him to sign with Bama or the U, but we're more in it than we were a month ago.
On Mathis, his grades are terrible. He's got serious work ahead of him. If it looks like he's good to qualify, we'll take him and make room. But his grades are really bad, so it's kind of doubtful right now.

Not saying you're wrong, but who is saying Miami might be tied at the top now?

Couple people close to him and Miami writers. He really likes Mark Richt.

Any updates on this guy? Seems like WR is getting pretty full for UA.

Kid is a take no matter how full the class for any team.

Yeah, the more I think about it and consider the depth chart, the more realistic it is that we'd take at least four WR in this class - the two we have now plus Smith and Ruggs.
Even though we only lose one this year for sure (could be more if Stewart leaves or we have transfers) most of the guys that play are near the end of their eligibility.
Diggs is really the only guy who will definitely be around for at least two more years that has shown very much. Stewart, Sims, Ridley will all be gone after next year for sure. Possibly Foster, too, if he even sticks around for next year, which I kind of doubt.

Possible, but same could be said for Smith, his routes are as clean and crisp as any WR recruit I've seen in a long time.
