Former 5 star S recruit, initially went to Georgia, some issues with alchol/drugs

Will likely redshirt this year then have 2 years of eligibility, if he stays clean

Did he redshirt at GA?

He was in the same class as Nigel, who’s now a senior.

I think this season will count as his “redshirt”.

He was kicked off the team mid year. Some serious drug issues and was a rare class attendee.

Hope he gets his head on straight, but he has a long way to go.

Thought I remember hearing that he went to rehab last fall but I may be mistaken.

Vols&Shaft will be here shortly to tell us how we really wanted to keep him... kidding, kidding.

Best of luck to the kid. Hope he’s able to get his life turned around. I really wanted to see him contribute in Athens, but maybe Knoxville will suit him better.

This is unconfirmed by thought to be true. Kirby has a program he uses that keeps everything under wraps to protect the athlete and their reputation.

Supposedly Gibbs continued with the problems after returning.

Some recent pictures of him had me thinking he would likely never play again. He looks no where close to playing shape.

I feel bad for him to an extent, but he has had as many or more chances than most people would get and has already wasted one opportunity of a lifetime.

IF he gets it together and returns to previous form, he is a rarely talented athlete.

Well by the sound of it he’ll have a year to get back into football shape.

Oddly enough, we’ve got several Grayson kids on the team now including Wanya coming in. Maybe getting away from Georgia is what it’ll take but if he’s rehabbing a drug problem, who knows. There’s more drugs in Knoxville than anywhere else in the South sans Miami and maybe Atlanta

It is interesting to watch as the number of Grayson kids increases for you guys.

Unfortunately, they have had a number of kids with some serious issues. The culture around that program is really bad and there are quite a few “handler” types that aren’t helping the kids chances.

Hopefully a change of scenery and a few hundred miles between them and some of the more scummy characters will help them focus and succeed.

A common misconception because wherever you go, your take yourself.

I wish him well but I doubt you will ever see him play a game and its sad. Hope I am wrong

This is one addition I'm not really behind. I'm not even sure he is anything great as a player without all the other problems. Hopefully he has a short leash and we aren't on the hook for that scholarship long.

I'd love to be wrong though.

I don’t mind taking a flyer on a guy like this. I’m sure he will be on a short leash regardless and Pruitt has to take a few risks like this in order to quickly flip the roster imo

In years past I would be But with Otis Reese in last years class and Lewis Cine in this years class I'm more like As with all kids I hope Gibbs turn it around and have a hell of a career except when they play us.

He's family. We have to try and often a change of scenery does help because you can start with new relationships and break old patterns that aren't healthy. College football is often cutthroat but you don't leave family out in the cold -- you give them a chance to succeed or fail.
