And 90% of the 2021 class will have signed by then. Some never setting foot on the campus of the school they sign with.

This is the path to a top 5 VOLS class.

I'd be willing to bet that they either postpone the early signing period or the kids will decide on their own not to sign.

If that’s the case, they should cancel the early signing period and push back the second signing day.

That would only cause problems, not solve any.

Kids should be allowed to visit a place before they sign up to live, go to school, and play football there for 3-5 years. I don’t really care what problems that causes.

A Dead Period doesn't prohibit recruits from visiting a college campus; it only prohibits visiting/touring the athletic facilities and in-person contact between college athletic staff and recruits.

Do you think it’s fair to ask a huge number of high school prospects to make a huge life decision without ever having met their coaches in person? Those coaches will largely control the next 3-5 years of their lives.

Also, what is the huge issue with having a signing day in early March or so? It could work a lot like the old single February signing day, just a bit later.

On the scale of problems COVID has created in college football, that is a minuscule inconvenience.

They have to “visit” on their own dime.,

And coaches can’t even watch them play live. Every decision has to be based on video.

It may not be fair, but sometimes life isn't fair. Under the circumstances, it seems fairly reasonable. "On the scale of problems COVID has created in college football, that is a "minuscule inconvenience."

Most of Bama's 2021 commits are enrolling at UA in January. So are many others at other schools. And you want to eliminate early signing in Dec without any good reason for eliminating it?

Fantastic. They can still do that if they want.

Some posters (including you) are talking like they want the Dec signing period eliminated for this cycle. That would solve nothing.

No player or school is required to do signings in Dec or on Feb NSD. The NCAA Bylaws already provide for signing later than that.

Technically, yes, but you and I both know there is significant strong-arming to essentially force the recruit to lock up a spot. I would imagine that pressure will be significantly worse than normal given current uncertainties.

Maybe UGA pressures kids to lock up a spot. Bama doesn't pressure them. Common sense tells kids they need to grab a spot where they want to go before the class is full.

Ah yes, Bama as the ultimate bastion of integrity in recruiting.

I didn’t even say anything about UGA or Bama. I’m talking about every recruit being pursued by a D1 program. The kids at the lower end of D1 are the ones with real problems. The kids being recruited by UGA and Bama will be fine, but it’s bigger than just those kids.

What problems does the extended dead period create only for them, that it doesn't create for more highly sought recruits?
