Went from an unranked ** to the number 82 overall player with the latest Rivals update. It will be interesting to see if ESPN and 247 follow suit.

Nice find by Butch and Co.

I hope not. I think they have to offer, first.

Quick blurb that came with the new ranking.

quote:

"Despite missing his junior season due to transfer rules, Christmas-Giles was quick to draw attention once tape from his senior year made the rounds. At 6-foot-4 and 290 pounds he is a big presence in the middle with a quick first step and the strength to overwhelm opponents. He made plays up and down the line of scrimmage for the St. Augustine Purple Knights throughout 2015. Christmas-Giles is committed to Tennessee, but he is taking his official visits. TCU, Texas, and Nebraska are a few teams to watch in addition to the Volunteers."

Did LSU offer first or did Chavis? A&M is recruiting TN harder lately. They flipped Bussey and Dodson, then just picked up commitment from Okeke. I know they were in early on this kid and don't have a DT in this class.

Tennessee offered first. With regard to Bussey, I suppose you can give A&M credit for the flip, but that's not really what happened.

Bussey was told by the staff that he might have to be a Blue Shirt, essentially they told him to look around. He was one I really wanted to keep honestly, but I don't blame him for choosing A&M under the circumstances.

This is true. IIRC, Butch had to make room on the last weekend before nsd when we made a surge with Drew Richmond. I would've liked to have found a way to keep Bussey

Butch needs to recruit this kid a little harder. A&M and Texas coaches have made in home visits.

The Vol coaches know DT talent ... Kid probably ends up being a steal.

Texas brought the whole staff. TAMU came as well last week or the week before can't remember. The kid missed 3 days of class because of all the coaches coming in to talk to him.

Our mods feel like he is solid to TN. I definitely think we can withstand a push by Texas and A&M, I just hope that LSU stays out of it.

Stripling is doing work with finding the talent and coaching them up.

As said before, A&M and the ongoing shite show at Texas doesn't bother me. Fingers are crossed that LSU does not get involved though. He has said quite a bit how much it ment to him that Butch found him when he was a unheralded 2* with no offers and was willing to make an offer to him when no one else would.

Also, I believe Gillespie and Butch are flying to Louisiana at some point this week to visit with him and his family.

It's a LOS league and I've been very happy with how much of an emphasis we have placed on the trenches since Butch got here.

Recruiting is a business and this will end up being a business decision.

Wouldn't put too much weight on him staying only because Tn was his first offer.

As I've said previously, I'm not worried about losing him to anyone not named LSU.

We'll see what happens.

Further proof that of staffs ability to find talent on the DL. Stripling is a boss. Hopefully he retires from UT.

Coach Stripling is one of the most underrated coaches out there. He gave us a very good DL the season before this one that he had to rebuild from scratch using converted players. A lot of people we had to replace the entire OL that year and how awful they were but few remember that we also had to replace the entire DL too.

This year's DL showed some real potential with Shy and KMAC starting to come on and of course once Barnett got healthy. The future is very bright there.

I wouldn't trade Stripling for anyone right now. He's been that good to us -- even when he didn't have more than 3 DTs to rotate.
