He was not mad about Bobo leaving just that him and McClendon he had built a relationship with, but they were concerned that when he left no one had contacted them until Feb when the New RB coach was hired and reached out to them. They spoke with the RB coach as I mentioned but his HC felt like maybe he might be looking in a different direction and tbh honest sounded like the RB coach was not sold on Emmons as his top choice. If I am to read between the lines of the info giving me. I would not even be surprised if UGA wanted him to camp so the new staff members could see him.

Hence why a few other schools especially like UT came after him hard this past spring when it looked like he was going to be opening back up his commitment. WNC has always been good to UT and a lot of their fans/alum in the area. Speculation in April was he was close to flipping to UT.

If there was any real concern about grades, which most of these kids there is always some or the NCAA would not set the bar so low, it was satisfied with his spring semester. At least enough to get more offers. Even UGA contacted prior to him committing to UA about coming down to camp after his spring semester.

That may very well be the case as he also had other concerns but Emmons kind of fell off the radar and no one really knew where we stood. I know Thomas Brown has been actively after other targets. At one point, Holyfield wasn't even considered a priority which let AU and Bama get a big lead in his recruitment. Seems like this years RB class has been really weird for us in general. We loved Emmons ability but I think him getting in trouble plus the early grade issues that our staff was waiting on to be settled created a rift.

This I agree with. I think UGA when they hired Brown he decided to look at all options and did not have Emmons top of the board. They wanted him to visit for camp while other schools were ready to offer and accept.

I think concern for Emmons by UGA had more to with the arrest especially considering the trouble UGA has had with players smoking weed(not saying it does not happen at every school because it does), but I believe that UGA had reservations.

GL with him. Hopefully you don't snag Holyfield too. That's where I believe UGA is focused now for our 1 spot this year. I believe we are aetting up nicely for next year too. RB is one thing I'm not worried about at UGA, QB is the other.

I'm not entirely convinced that Holyfield is UGA's main target at RB.

That's sounds a lil upset. No congrats or nothing.

UGA fans aren’t trying to prove anything with their post. I believe the AJC posted an article in February, and his HS coach said UGA had not contacted BJ in 2 months. That says a lot when we’re talking about premiere running back. No one is disputing his on-field prowess, its the off the field that leaves a lot to be desired.

We’re running out of options. The 2017 class is loaded, we lead for McFarland and Trey Sermon. IMO, we take a RB out of necessity and load up on talent next year.

Good luck to Bama. You guys always have beast RB's and Emmons is no exception. Hopefully we pick up Holyfield and move onto next year because this years class is rather weak for us in terms of talent on the table at RB. I like Holyfield though and I feel like he will be a solid player.
