What do you guys think our starting 5 will be next year. Im going with Releford, Lacey, Randolph, Jacobs, and Gueye. What do you guys think?

Unless Gueye has drastically improved and bounced back from his knee injury, I just don't see him starting or playing big minutes.

Releford, Lacey, Randolph, Pollard, Jacobs could be the starting lineup depending on the opponent. As long as Bama isn't playing someone with a dominant inside game, there is no need for Gueye to clog things up and turn the ball over every other possession.

Sounds like Pollard is the anti-Mitchell. That makes me happy.

Although if we are looking to actually push the tempo for once, I could see us going with something like

Releford
Steele
Randolph
Cooper
Pollard

I see Gueye playing a good bit whether or not he has drastically improved, but I think he will. If y'all remember, of all our new signees of 2011, the players and CAG all pretty much said that Gueye was the standout during early workouts. Considering what he did and what the rest of the signees did, I have to think Gueye was nowhere near 100% last year. I actually look/hope for him to start. I like Jacobs offensive game, but his post D and rebounding left a lot to be desired last year and that's something you definitely need from your true big.

Ill go with Releford, Randolph, Steele, Pollard, and Gueye/Jacobs. Though I agree he could go with a small lineup with Coop and Pollard at the 4 and 5 when he really wants to open up the lanes.

There was no doubt that Moussa Gueye was playing hurt last season. I really expect him to be much improved next year and do some good things on both ends of the floor. Whether or not he starts is a whole nother story.

I could get used to the starting 5 looking a lot like this:

Releford
Lacey
Randolph
Pollard
Jacobs

Indeed.

The loss of hankerson depleted the bench somewhat though, esp. losing Green.

Cooper, Eblen, Steele, maybe Retin off the bench, along with the swede and Geuye.

A lot of those starters have a season under their belt now. We should see an improvement offensively. I sure the hell hope so anyway.

How many southpaws does this make?

His jumpshots may be left handed but almost everything else about the kid is ambidextrous.

Eblen, Jacobs, Cooper, and Pollard. Am I missing anyone?

So Pollard was actually a decent outside shooter in HS. About 33-34% for his career. Where will he plummet to once he gets on campus? 20%?

I wonder how much we'll want him to roam the perimeter. He could be a matchup nightmare and blow past his defender if he was playing as a 4. I think he'll be a guy that will crash the boards like Tony did and get some put backs. Hopefully he'll be the exception and hit a few perimeter shots I'd expect Lacey and Cooper's percentages to go up as well. Levi needs to just stick to around the free throw line unless he's altering his shot a bit over the summer.

I just read that Bama is having an Elite Basketball Camp June 3-6. Any of you know what players may be attending? I hope Greg may put out a list.

Lacey was actually very good in the 2nd half of the season. I think it just took him a while to get back to 100%. If that continues this season he should give us at least one viable option from outside.

They have to start Lacey and give the kid the green light. I watched him play probably 20 games in high school and he was way too hesitant with his jumper last year. He needs to just let it fly.

I am torn between wanting him and Steele at the starting 2 guard spot. I agree though that the coaches need to let him know that he has the green light to take any open shot he gets. I did the math at the end of last season, but IIRC he was something like 42 or 43% from 3 over the final 10-12 games.

I think Lacey will definitely be a go to guy this year. I expect both him and Releford to shoot a ton more. I asked Greg about the camp and he said the elite prospects come to the camp in August, not this one.

Both Lacey and Cooper should be given a green light from down town. My prediction would be that Cooper would be the more consistent three point shooter while Lacey will do some rhythm shooting from outside. While I think they will be two of our best scorers next year I think both will be starting the season on the bench but both getting starter quality minutes. Steele may not be a great scorer, but hes the glue guy on the team and our best distributer. I see us having extremely balanced scoring next year. I could potentially see us having 5 or possibly even 6 guys that score around 10 a game.

Steele wont start. Some players are just better off the bench. He comes in and gives us key plays. I think Gueye starts just because of what I saw from him in that Tenn game. He can play defense and hopefully he will be healthy. Im telling you guys remember that lineup. Only change I might make is subbing Pollard in for Jacobs to get more athleticism on the court.

I think our most talented lineup would be Releford, Lacey, Randolph, Pollard, and Jacobs but I'm not sure that'll be who we start. I think a lot will be determined by who we go up against and whether the strength of their team is on the perimeter or the inside.
