Also, saw this on twitter quote: @scoutsfocus: Kentucky, NC State, PITT, Providence, L'ville, Xavier, Cincinnati & 'Bama are schools expected to make a push for Montrezl post-release. Montrezi Harrell was a Va Tech commit. Seems like a long shot for us but would be a hell of a pickup

just read that Kentucky really wants this kid because they are looking for another big to finish out there class. THey want him or A. Bennet because they can do so many different things as bigs.

Harrell would be stupid to go to UK/Minor League Basketball. He's a 3 or 4 year player.

I told someone the same thing. If your not a 5 star guy you will be on the bench at Kentucky.

All quiet on Pollard

Nothing has come out of the Devonta Pollard camp since his visit to Georgetown last week. Originally, Pollard was expected to make his decision the week after he returned from his final visit but it looks more and more like that decision will get pushed back at least another week. The signing period officially ends May 16 but don’t expect the ESPN 100 star to wait until the last minute like Trevor Lacey did a year ago. Pollard still has the same final group of Alabama, Georgetown, Missouri and Texas.

2013 point guards

Alabama thought it had its point guard for 2013 when Jaren Sina committed over a year ago, but that changed when the New Jersey native reopened his recruitment this past fall. The Tide coaching staff remains high on Sina but it’s also exploring other options at the position. One player who UA has been in contact with recently is Texas point guard Kendal Harris. Harris said he talks regularly with the Alabama staff and believes they may offer soon. He already has over a dozen offers including Kansas State, LSU, Marquette, Missouri, Oklahoma, Oklahoma State and Texas A&M. Alabama is also recruiting his AAU teammate Jordan Mickey, an ESPN Super 60 prospect in the class of 2013.

Analyze That hooked it up for you bro.

While the University of Alabama basketball staff awaits Devonta Pollard’s decision, it has remained active recruiting the 2013 class, and one player it has shown a lot of interest lately is Texas point guard Kendal Harris.

The Crimson Tide already has an offer out to point guard Jaren Sina, who was once committed to Alabama, but that hasn’t stopped UA coach Anthony Grant from exploring other options. Grant visited Harris at his high school earlier this month and over the weekend Grant and one of the Tide’s assistant coaches traveled to Las Vegas to watch Harris in action with his AAU team, Urban DFW Elite.

“They’ve been saying they like how I run the point and how I would fit with their style of play,” Harris said. “They really like my personality, and they want me to be in their program.”

Harris, who spoke with the staff Tuesday night, doesn’t have an offer yet from Alabama but he believes one could be coming soon.

The Richardson, Texas, native already has more than a dozen offers including LSU, Marquette, Missouri, Oklahoma, Oklahoma State and Texas A&M. Kansas State offered him a scholarship earlier this week.

At 6-foot-4, Harris is taller than the average point guard but he has the mindset of a floor leader who likes running the show and creating for teammates.

“I like to attack the basket first, but I like to create for my other teammates,” Harris said. “I feel like that’s just something in my nature, to pass the ball and create for my teammates. I just like to compete and be a leader on the floor.”

On his AAU team, Harris has the luxury to play with two ESPN Super 60 prospects, Jordan Mickey and Karviar Shepherd.

In addition to Harris, Alabama also has interest in Mickey, a 6-foot-7, 205-pound forward. The two have discussed the idea of playing together at the next level, but it’s not necessarily a package deal.

“We’d love to play together, but it’s wherever’s the best fit,” Harris said. “If there’s something better for him to just be solo, then that’s what it will be, but we would like to play with each other since we have that chemistry from the summertime.”

Over the weekend, the trio will travel to North Little Rock, Ark., for the Real Deal in the Rock, one of the premier tournaments on the AAU circuit.

Spoke with a few sources on five-star De Kalb (Miss.) Kemper Co. SF Devonta Pollard and here's where we stand- it's looking like Pollard is shooting for an announcement on next Friday. All sources feel it's not a scenario where he already knows who he's picking and at least three of the four finalists (Alabama, Texas, Missouri, and Georgetown) remain in play with Georgetown being mentioned as the team that's slipping.

There likely won't be much to report between now and the time of the announcement other than schematics of the event as it's well documented that Pollard and his mother play things close to the vest (even with college coaches). It's still up in the air if Pollard will inform the schools of his decision ahead of time.

Cecil Hurt just retweeted a blog that said Pollard would announce by next Friday.

quote:

Devonta Pollard plans to announce his college choice by the end of next week.

“That’s my understanding, by next Friday,” Jeff Andrews of the Southern Phenoms told SNY.tv Friday by phone.

“I think he’s just going to go ahead and make a commitment next Friday.”

A 6-foot-8 senior small forward from Porterville (Miss.) Kemper County, Pollard is considering Alabama, Georgetown, Missouri and Texas.

Andrews said Pollard has yet to make up his own mind.

“I don’t think he knows,” he said. “I don’t know if there’s any school in particular in front of anybody.”

Pollard averaged 23.8 points, 15.7 rebounds and 5.1 blocked shots this past year to lead Kemper County to the state 3A state title.

In college, he “will be very athletic and very active,” Andrews said.

This is from Dave Telep: Getting shots to the rim vs. Jimmie Taylor isn't easy. Little Jarvis Varnardo to his game. #EYBL

This is from Eric Bossi: Alabama Challenge big man Jimmy Taylor continuing to make big strides. Looks the part of a top 30 big man. #EYBL.

@ebosshoops: In coaching staff news, assistant Robert Kirby has left Georgetown and is now at LSU. Could they make a late run at Devonta Pollard?
