I don't know how credible this is, but a guy (not an admin) posted this on BOL:
quote:
Leroy "Truck" Fludd (6'5,200 - PF/SF - '12) of Boys & Girls HS in Brooklyn, NY said in a recent interview on TOS that he's down to Rutgers, Arizona, Alabama and St. John's.
Apparently he's a supper athlete but his game (currently) is more of a PF than a SF.
Grades may be an issue

Rick Ray hasn't got any commits, and I got destroyed on a State message board for making note of it. Everybody is saying either
A. he didn't have enough time and needs more time to recruit
Or.
B. We need to save our scholarships for the 2013 class b/c we only have one Sr.
Rick Ray hasn't won me over yet. However he does have a PG who is close to committing to us with offers from USCe, USCw, Seton Hall, and Houston.

Here's a good Jimmie Taylor update:
Honestly, I might be the only one but if we get A. Simmons I could care less about this Taylor kid. Ive seen him play and while he is a big body he is more potential than skill.

There is a D. Pollard thread on tidesports, does anyone knows what it says?

From Aaron Suttles:
Then someone asked "Is Bama pursuing anyone else or just waiting till next year?"
His answer:

From Aaron Suttles:
quote:
I just got off the phone with Devonta Pollard's AAU coach, Jeff Andrews. As I anticipated, Pollard and his mom are not doing interviews. Pollard said the family expects to make a decision in the next two weeks. The signing period runs until May 16. Alabama remains in great shape after a tremendous job of recruiting the five-star forward. As more information becomes available, I'll pass it along. Thanks for your understanding.

His answer:

Don't hold me to this, but everything I've been told -- from multiple sources -- is that right now it's only Devonta Pollard. Signing Period runs until May 16, so there is time for another prospect to come on the radar, but I don't expect it.
Then added:

Alabama has done a great job of recruiting Pollard and his mom. If Texas is pitching the idea of using him like it did Kevin Durant, that is a powerful recruiting pitch. Still, Alabama is closer to home. Time will tell. Also, I'm going to merge this with the previous Pollard thread. Thanks.

I read this on twitter: Shannon Hale, '13 Bama commit from TN playing for team out of St. Louis, drops 14 pts on 5-10, 2-3 from downtown, and 6 rebs in 19 mins.
I also read that Grant was in Vegas watching guys such as Solomon Poole and Craig Victor play.

@DaveTelep: Been told more time is needed with Devonta Pollard. Might be two more weeks. No schools added or subtracted. Mizzou, Hoyas, Bama, Horns

Lived in Vegas for a long time. Seeing the top talent from across the nation each year and usually more than once a year was always a highlight. I gave an earful to more than a few coaches and scouts

For a while I thought we were going to get him, but now I think he ends up at Texas.

Just facing reality man.
If he's taking extra time, that's not very good for us at all. It probably means the Texas pitch worked on him and/or he and his mother disagree on where he should go.

What a huge blow if he does choose Tejas

Do I need to repeat my previous statement in this thread:
College Basketball recruiting is by far THE DIRTIEST thing about college athletics PERIOD
Haven't heard hardly ANYTHING in the last 2 months on Pollard since hearing he was a Bama Lock after Miss St tanked, this usually means in basketball recruiting, he's more than likely a goner. You can always HOPE the close to home thing comes in as a factor, but now there is talk of his Mom applying for a $400K loan (I'm assuming for a house & she will be approved) & a new job in Austin, so if he picks Tejas, you will certainly know why
