See the problem is that unlike the other schools you named, there are very few players that LSU pulls in from Texas that A&M is not after ... Jaeln Mills and Corey Thompson last year are both guys we were after (Corey was actually committed to us till late, 2011 it was Trevon Randle (did he go JUCO ... don't remember), 2009 it was Shepard and Loston (not sure we ever had a shot at Shepard but I remember Loston was a battle), 2007 Toliver
It isn't every year that we clash on guys but it is more often than not and it is usually for the better players, not the Ok State level players.
This year is the first I can remember where we went head to head in several recruiting battles and didn't lose out to LSU. Think what you want but that is a fairly significant shift in the recruiting scene.
Just as an example, last year you would have walked away with RSJ no doubt in my mind.
ETA: my first post was pointing out that not many schools get what would be considered "quality" recruits out of Texas, the usual suspects for quality Texas recruits are Texas, Texas A&M, LSU, and Oklahoma. Oregon, Ohio St, Ok State, etc are not threats for any of those 4 schools on a consistent basis.

Paris is going to LSU
Noil and Willis going anywhere but LSU would be a major upset
Brown is going where his sister goes
I'm not really all that confident with any of these four, but with our current momentum and our coaching staff, we have a hell of a lot better shot than we used to.
The 2014 class is so deep at DB and A&M and LSU are already set up really well. The real losers who are going to miss out on this class of Texas DB's are Texas and OU.
Tony Brown - 5* - LSU or A&M
Nick Harvey - 4* - A&M
Ed Paris - 4* - Probably LSU
Cedric Collins - 4* - A&M
Chris Hardeman - 4* - LSU
Darrion Johnson - 4* - Tried to commit to A&M awhile back, but didn't have an offer
Nick Watkins - 4* - Probably Texas
Davion Hall - 4* - Probably A&M as his brother is on our roster
Jamal Adams - 4* - A&M or Texas
Edwin Freeman - 4* - ???
Dylan Sumner-Gardner - 4* - Clemson commit, but we'll see if that sticks
The Texas DB class is probably the deepest ever at a position in the state and LSU and A&M are already sitting pretty with the best ones.

I know, none of these guys have an ounce of humility.
Every guy A&M got is because LSU didnt want them or didnt try hard enough, or the guys isnt "LSU Good". I will enjoy the coming years when we start taking their prospects.

<Sidenote/age old argument>
Makes me ill to see Texas born & raised talent have to leave The Great State. I understand that we have too much talent/not enough places for all of 'em; but it feels like a crime. I'd rather see the likes of Texas State, Sam Houston, North Texas, SFA, etc. score these kids, rather than them have to attend schools outside of The Republic of Texas.
Better ole miss than OU, I guess.

Nope. Sorry we didn't offer his friend like y'all did. The others we were not even recruiting. Chevis wanted to come here but we told him only as a FB and he said no.
So try again ..

Tavares Garner was offered by and committed to TAMU before Parker.
But are you suggesting that Kyrion committed to LSU so that they'd offer Garner?
Doesn't that kind of, I don't know, leave Kyrion with no leverage?
Yeah, kinda doubt your little theory.
But here's a plausible thought--Kyrion didn't want to play in that anemic offense. No out of state kids on that side of the ball are enticed to go to LSU.

Who? Who? And Who? Try to get better at recruiting Less Miles.
Posted on 1/30/13 at 11:24 pm to Mr. Elvert
That would be an OT and two QBs that are higher rated at their position than anything a&m has committed at those positions.

uncle jimbo nailed it.
Brown goes where his sister goes. LSU leads for that.
Paris goes to LSU.
Serious question. Currently we have Ellis committed for 2013, and he's short. Evidently LSU didn't offer because he's short. Isn't Hardeman (2014) short?
Oklahoma is who has always stood in the way of Aggie success. When they're down, we're up (typically). When we're down, they're up. The state of Texas has enough talent to support two top tier schools, and supplement talent to another. The state of Louisiana has a ton of top end talent. The difference between OU and LSU? Oklahoma has crap, so in turn that makes the state of Texas try to support 3 top tier schools, and supplement talent to another top tier school (LSU). I don't mind LSU getting Texas talent, I mind Oklahoma getting top Texas talent.
I'd really like Speedy, but I'm afraid connects get him to LSU. Be real, it's not due to offensive scheme. I'm not insulting you guys, just trying to look at it objectively. Feel free to disagree.
