Scott did not play in the game because he was injured.

He played ... I sat there and watched him, he played - was in on at least three plays that I counted at the time. All three times though, even though he was the far smaller back, he lined up to block for the kid going to UNC.

Running back Derrell Scott had failed the pre-practice physical for the annual Shrine Bowl of the Carolinas because of a broken knuckle and was being sent home. Blount was responsible for getting Scott back to Havelock.

Derrell Scott of Havelock will not play due to a fracture in his hand suffered on his last carry of the game against Concord. He will also miss the Semper Fi game in January.

He was not even at the game that week as a spectator. He went back. One of our rivals guys was supposed to be at the game and didn't go because Scott was not even there to interview.

Since he failed the physical early in the week, he was probably replaced on the roster. That person probably got his number which is why you thought you saw him.

I attended the Shrine Bowl ... wonder why Scott didn't play more?

Scott broke his hand on Havelock's last drive against Concord in the State Championship game.

Yeah, that's right and what I remembered too. I wasn't at the Shrine Bowl, but I watched it on TV. I didn't see Scott and the word out on the paysites the week before the game was that Scott wasn't able to play/practice that week b/c of a busted hand.

Then someone else was wearing his number ... 34 if I remember correctly but I can go find the program and look it up again. He was in on three series on NC's drive going to our right, toward the school away from the big scoreboard, twice he blocked and on the third time he was about to block and they called a timeout and pulled him with NC on maybe the thirty yard line.

Good for Scott, I hope he has a great career. However, how awesome is it that USC is now perceived to be sooo deep that a Top 3 APB is worried about getting playing time his first couple of years. Wow, times have changed, Go Cocks!

Wow boys, what a class. I remember thinking Butch was a good coach but that he wouldn't be able to recruit the SEC. Glad to be wrong on this one
