A team's current success and fan enthusiasm for the program always concern me when the race is tight. Going into 2021 enthusiasm was sky-high for the program's future. MU's shaky start has damped that a bit. I still think the future looks bright for the program, but I wish he would have committed in August rather than October (as rumored). I have no idea how this will factor in, but at best it's neutral. In no scenario do I see it being a positive.

Game day atmosphere does play a part sometimes. Has he taken his Official to you guys yet? If not what game will he go see? I hate it when we get a recruit to a noon game or against a really weak opponent. Energy is usually down and sometimes if there is a big lead people start leaving the game early...not a good look.

An October announcement is best case scenario for Mizzou. If he was going to wait until signing day, I would hate our odds. The earlier (October is early) the better. With that being said, UGA is clearly in the picture and, hell, could be favored at this point. Who knows.

Burden has moved his announcement up a day...

Luther Burden has changed his announcement date to October 19th. It will now be at Herbert Hoover Boys and Girls Club, the place where Luther used to play little league football. Coach Drink and Luther’s dad stay in pretty close contact. Stay tuned.

Good bye Luther. It was fun thinking we had a shot. No one wants to play for a program as bad as MU. Congrats GA! The rich get richer!

On the other hand, Burden might see an opportunity to be a home town hero and stay at Mizzou. Try to build the program, and get some NIL money. If he is that good, he can get drafted just as easily at Mizzou as Georgia. He could stay at home and make it easy for family to see him play.
There are a lot of good reasons for him to stay at Missouri.

I appreciate the lifeline my friend. Not to worry tho, the wife has hidden all the sharp objects in the house

Of course I hope you are right. I can survive a bad season or two (hell, I’ve been a Mizzou fan for a long time so it’s nothing new), my greatest fear is not being able to hold things together long enough to get Drink’s recruits in the door. I think the program can improve if these kinds come, but the way kids commit and decommit these days, who knows.

That was as much for me as it was for you in case he still picks Missouri.

In all honestly, I don't think one showing will change his decision and he appears to have made up his mind.

How many siblings does he have? Read somewhere it was a bunch, I can see him wanting to stay close to home as it was stated it was over 10, that is a lot of money to fly to his games.

I heard on talk radio Burton may want to escape the E. St. Louis area because of the violence.

If he plays for MU he's not going to commute. Columbia is a 2-hour drive and a million miles away from ESL.
Not saying he's gonna go our way, but just don't think this is going to be much of a factor.

Which college in ESTL is recruiting him?

He’s visiting UGA this weekend.

He was at Mizzou this weekend. I hope his flight to UGA gets delayed so he can see how much more difficult it would be for his family to watch him there

I would like our chances better if he didn't visit this season. Attendance and fan support in general is as bas as I've ever seen it right now.
