So he’s going to play TE instead of defense?

Georgia has a dominance on the tight end position like Alabama use to have on running backs.

They have had success with Bowers to date lol. They’ve landed a ton of highly rated TEs only Bowers has lived up to the hype.

Darnell Washington will go no lower than mid-2nd round. That's living up to the hype for a TE. All of the others are young and haven't had the chance yet.

I don't think thats a good example of UGA developing TEs though. He is going that high because of his size and athleticism. So unless y'all have a gene editing program for recruits I don't think you can really claim that one

That kind of thing happens in college though. Bama didn't really do much of anything to develop Julio, for example. The only thing he really had to do is hit the jug machine harder. Dude was a physical monster from the moment he got to campus. I don't think a coach can really take credit for "developing" him.

A ton? The only who wasn't drafted was Nauta.

1. Bowers really didn’t have any hype.
2. Darnell Washington
3. Fitzpatrick, McKitty, Woerner, and Nauta were UGA TEs drafted the last 4 years

This is true. Wherever he goes, he will be drafted too low. If he put on weight, he could be a dominant offensive tackle in the NFL. No idea why he never did that in college. That is where the money is.

Darnell is going off of measurables, not because he was a go to playmaker.

He’s going because he was a difference maker on offense. He doesn’t have flashy numbers but he has a lot of tape making NFL highlight plays that teams love.

Exactly this. He is an NFL caliber TE that showed he can catch the ball and is willing and capable of making bone crushing blocks. He does not have outstanding speed, but has as much as other TEs and possibly more. He just doesn't have the speed of Brock Bowers that allowed Bowers to be a central point offensively. While Bowers can also block, he does not have the mass to block as well as Washington.

If Washington decides to stay at TE he will be a huge force in the NFL both as a blocker and as a receiver.

(Not to mention all the other TE's that have been drafted into the NFL from Georgia)

He had 45 catches and 3 TDs in 3 years. That's not a lot of tape, either.

His best trait is that he’s a devastating blocker in the run game for a TE.

He has a ton of blocking highlights. You’re smart enough to know there’s more to a TE than just receptions.

Georgia had 44 rushing TDs.

Look at our 2022 roster and find our Cam Newton. Tim Tebow. Najee Harris. Derrick Henry.

The highlights are who we were running behind on 90% of those TDs.
Darnell either collapsed the edge or was lead blocker on a release/counter over and over and over. And yes... they are highlight plays of him blocking.
