Curious - did Kirby screw over Grayson or something? Seems like a bad idea for one of the top schools in the state getting screwed over. What’s the history there?
Kirby doesn't appear to be willing to humor Kenyatta Watson. I think that's pretty much it.

Correction: Conn is a Bama alumnus, who roomed with Dabo at Bama. He’s coaching at Clemson now.

Think he ends up in Athens in the long run

As any smart coach would do and has been used against Bama in the past....sell our depth and our big class previously as a hindrance. We signed a lot of good players specifically at LB. Obviously Pappoe would have a roll but any team would be smart to use that against us.

yeppers, gotta use the bullets that you got! Now, Saban somehow navigated through this the last 10 years - can Kirby and Staff? Probably but we still gotta prove it!

My feelings on this will be torn on whether OP is truly an OLB or an ILB. The services all list him as OLB, but I could have sworn I saw somehwere that we wanted him at ILB to essentially be our "next roquan".
As mentioned, we have loads of talent at OLB and we've signed a high number of studs at the position the last 2 classes. If he is a for sure OLB this loss doesn't hurt quite as bad, besides the fact he's going to a rival that we'll play every year. If he is an ILB however, it hurts badly because we really don't have a lot of answers there. Monty Rice could be great but we just don't know. We signed Tindall last year but the guy isn't even on campus yet. OP could have been a multi-year answer at the position (to go along with Nolan smith on the outside
) which would upset me slightly to miss out on him.
Also as mentioned, despite him picking AU today I'm not gonna sweat this one until signing day. We've all seen kirby work magic in flipping folks, and other than liking AU's coach I just don't see what auburn offers that we don't. Wouldn't shock me in the slightest to see him commit to AU but end up in athens in teh end.

UGA OLBs are typically listed as weakside DEs on recruiting sites because of the 3-4.
If they're listed as OLBs, that usually means ILB or flex LB for UGA.

Why? Last year was not the norm for Auburn recruiting Georgia players. The norm is Auburn getting a good share of the state's top recruits. Kirby doesn't have the luxury of negatively recruiting Gus' job security this year.

last year no auburn commits flipped to any school...

That's just because Kirby didn't want them

and this time last year we had like 6 guys that are currently with us that were committed elsewhere. Just saying I won't count kirby out.
I'm also curious how much OP's grayson teammates factor in here. We don't really want any of them other than owen, while AU has basically offered all of them even the scrub center.

As far as offering all the Grayson guys goes we really need Morris more than the rest. Clark was also a must with the style of our running game. We definitely need OP and want him but Williams has done well getting the LBs he wanted in the past couple classes. We run a 4-3 but have our nickel on the field 80% of the time so our depth isn't quite the concern most people think.

Morris is a good prospect, no qualms there.

He's also ranked 1100+ nationally and the only other even remotely "good" offer he has is WVU. The rest of his minimal offers are the likes of USA, temple, kansas, etc.
And keep in mind I'm not knocking this or sayign it's anything shady, it happens all the time and we've done it quite a bit. We offered Crowell's Hs teammate, we offered zander ogletree to help with alec, etc. Everyone does it. I'm just thinking out loud that I wonder if some of OP's teammates that have blanket offers to AU (and don't to UGA) is playing a part in his decision.

I think Clark is a need for them. Just shows how comfortable Kirby must feel about this class to not be going hard after Morris and Kevin Harris being a plan B option.

I'm sure, all I'm saying is that it's not coincidental that the center they have committed has minimal other offers and has highly ranked teammates.
6 of the centers ranked ahead of clark don't even have an offer from AU.
Again, not saying anythign nefarious is at play, just saying that the offer was likely facilitated by having a number of high ranked teammates that AU wants.

That argument works against you just as easily. Taking off red and black glasses, you cant say that UGA offers something more than AU does except for getting to say he plays for his state's school. He will likely have equal opportunity to play for championships, and get drafted at both schools.

We are all over Clay Webb just aren't getting him. Those six Centers you reference are all equally 3 stars and/or west coast guys - its not like we are passing on offering a bunch of highly ranked guys. Clark was the best option for us, and the added value of being a teammate with other guys we are really recruiting hard. Grayson head coach said Clark is his team leader and the best OL on his team and that's including Morris.
