From what I've seen and heard, it appears that auburn just did a great job here. The tactic seems to have been:

1. Strong personal relationship with position coach
2. Much easier to sell the depth chart at his likely position (ILB)

This was all helped by the fact that many people associated with the Grayson program are extremely anti-UGA and anti-Kirby Smart in particular.

Congrats Barners! Contrary to many, I think he stays committed to you guys wire to wire and will be your best recruiter for this class.

Curious - did Kirby screw over Grayson or something? Seems like a bad idea for one of the top schools in the state getting screwed over. What’s the history there?

The fact that I started this thread makes your accusation of stalking appear retarded, so you should have cared if you were interested in appearing like a decent poster.

Kenyatta has a vendetta against Kirby. UA also employs Kenyatta, AU is UA, and Owen is going to UA all-american game. UGA only being interested in one of their many recruits cant help.

People seem to misunderstand the relationship that OP and Travis Williams have. Sidebar, Williams was a risky hire based on lack of experience but he has awesome so far. Our linebacker play the last two seasons has been exceptional with good but not great talent and our recruiting at the position has seen an uptick. Back to OP, yes Williams is selling PT because it's the truth as AU is losing 3 starting senior LBs. But Williams has really sold his mother on the culture in his LB meeting room and has sold OP on the success he personally had as an undersized LB and the success Steele has had sending undersized LBs to the NFL. Williams has done a great job. He and Kodi Burns have (surprisingly) carried the last two classes.

Curious

The history of it is long and different depending on who you ask, but it is multifactoral. For a long time, Grayson was coached by a Bama alum who roomed with Dabo there and naturally had ties with to those two schools. Here lately, Grayson has gotten down and dirty in the state, evidenced by the large number of kids that transfer from all over the metro area to play there. As part of that process, they brought on a guy named Kenyatta Watson as a "volunteer coach". Watson is/was associated with a thing called Tru19, which was basically a handling/advisement service for a bunch of highly rated guys in this years class who played for Watson's youth team and coincidently wound up at Grayson.

A big part of the Tru19 hype machine has been an attitude that "if you want one of us, you better come for all of us". Georgia under Kirby Smart hasn't recruited a number of those kids very hard (ie Wanya Morris, Kevin Harris, and Kenyatta Watson Jr). For this and other reasons, KWSR staked his position pretty early on that Kirby wasn't the right guy and would be a failure at UGA.

TL;DR - many folks at Grayson don't like UGA for many reasons. It is likely that those folks will be less influential in the years to come.

Not what everyone is putting into it. Auburn did a great job here. We did pass on a player earlier this year there when he tried to commit, and we've got some on the board higher than some of their guys, but they know that.
I've heard so many rumors about why there was so much chatter, but I only found out earlier that we knew for sure. Which would mean a phone call. The money excuses when it started heavy last week killed me. You don't pay a kid in April..... Everybody knows that

Told my people I'd say if something changed. I had him predicted when I was posting here, so I thought I'd speak on it and give props to Auburn.

Go back to your madness. Take care V&S, I hope all is well bro

To steal this guy from Georgia's backyard would be criminal for Auburn

Wouldn’t shock me if it was criminal. Never know...FBI might be looking at football now. Kenyatta Watson has tons of skeletons in his closet. That said, ever since the Cam saga Auburn has been pretty clean so it would surprise me a bit...but not shock me.

Unfortunately we don't have much luck with Grayson.

I think the dawgs will be fine after signing the top LB class last cycle. Quay Walker, Channing Tindall and Otis Reese arrive in a few. I've said it before Travon Walker is the big prize on D for the dawgs and by all accounts the 5 star D-lineman is on commit watch.
