I think he came back for a playoff/state championship game and lit it up. 3-4 TDs. He'll be fine. But you won't have to worry about him for another year or two. Dormandy and Jones are legit and will take over when Dobbs graduates.

You haven't seen him throw, have you? I'd take him over anyone else.

I would say that Johnson committing to Clemson actually helps UT's chances with Trevor Lawrence.

He really did. I got a chance to watch Cartersville twice this season and holy shite Lawrence is impressive. By far the best high school quarterback I've ever seen in person. He was making 50-60 yard rocket passes in warmups without even stepping into his throws, just flicking his wrist.

Meh, pretty sure they have several potential qbs lined up but I don't know if this one was expected to be the best or not. I think that Butch has been able to sell playing time for the first few years and now that the team is coming together that pitch will get a little harder. Kid has options.

I would say Johnson's decommitment puts Tennessee right back in the driver's seat for Lawrence. Signing Gitmo, Johnson and Lawrence back to back to back, on top of the two highly rated freshmen we already have on campus, was just not realistic. Hanging onto Gitmo is much more crucial imo, he is the perfect quarterback for Butch's offense and looks like he could be the next Marcus Mariota.

Not all that worried about any of them when Butchy is y'alls coach. Now, if y'all get a real coach, I'll be worried.
Butch reminds me of Zook in so many ways. I just hope his successor doesn't have the same success that Zook's successor did.

Yeah, UT will be fine at QB for the forseeable future. Nobody wants to lose highly rated recruits, but I wish the kid well at Clemson. Apparently Dabo is selling him on coming in and taking over after Watson heads to the league. After Dobbs graduates to do NASA shite next year, Johnson would have still been waiting behind the 3 guys listed below. The days of UT selling the "You'll play right away for us" are over as Butch has recruited talent/depth fairly well for us. Actually having too much depth at QB bit us on the Johnson recruitment if I had to guess.
2013 class - Josh Dobbs - 4*
2014 class - Q. Dormady - 4* -- S. Jones -- 4*
2015 class - Jarrett Guarantano - 4*
Guarantano has the chance to be a much more complete Josh Dobbs, IMO. Not only will he kill you with his legs, but he has the arm to make the throws Dobbs has struggled so badly with. He reminds me of the type of player Chip Kelly would have recruited and made thrive while at Oregon. He is the one most UT fans can't wait to see throw the pads on. Either way, like I said I wish Johnson well and hope that this only improves our standing with Lawrence as some rumors came out that he wasn't overly happy with Johnson committing in the class before him on top do the depth at QB. Should be interesting to see how it plays out
