Love the "we missed out on him, so he beats his girl" line. TWill doing work. He never let up on this guy and it paid off.

His two finalist the first time around were shitty Nebraska and Tennessee. I get that you're just now interested in his recruitment because he's considering AU but these rumors were out way before he committed the first time. You can stop acting like it's sour grapes when it's not coming from teams that aren't recruiting him.

Ahh. Rumors. It couldn't be he wants playing time.

Couldn’t be. Shitty programs like Nebraska and Tennessee have never beaten out mighty programs like Auburn, Miami and Georgia for recruits.

Yeah, because a 5 start player couldn't walk in and get plenty of playing time at a good program.

Wait. He wants playing time so he decommits from Tennessee and goes to Auburn?

I know next to nothing about the kid, but I think you are stretching a bit if you are using this line.

Should we name all the 5* players that have come in and played as freshmen?

Crap. We have had players that were 3* and 4* come in and start as freshmen.

Not just get plenty of playing time as Porter said, but start.

To be fair, Auburn is unproven at MLB minus KJ Britt and he’s gone after this year. Owen Pappoe and Zakoby McClain have been plug and play this year, and out of position.

Theoretically, Terrence Lewis could come in and contribute from day 1, if not start. Although, I do question his size right now.

Britt has been a rock for you guys. He'll be missed for sure.

I saw he was listed at 200. Pappoe was a bit on the small side, too. Has he gained weight?

This actually got me to thinking so I looked up some guys:

2020 class
Darnell Washhington
Jalen Carter

2019 class
Travon Walker
George Pickens

All these either started or got significant playing time. Those are just the 5*. There are a lot more loser stars that got tons of playing time as freshmen.

He has, but not enough to hold down the middle, IMO.

I was wondering. I think he was listed at 200 LBS, too, and at that weight you can run into two different problems. They might be too light to play at LB but too slow to play in the secondary. If they add weight, they might become too slow and negate an advantage they might have.

That said, I think a lot of schools do some players a disservice sometimes based upon their weight. Some won't give a kid a chance thinking he is too light, but the kid can cover a lot of ground and deliver a hit.

He’s listed as 222 on the Auburn roster. Which is solid for an OLB, just not ideal for shedding a center who is getting in your grill at the snap. He’s still kept a lot of his speed, but looks to be a half a step or so slower which is to be expected.

For the old style LB that is light, but really, with the "high powered throw the ball around" offenses today, you almost need a lighter, faster LB, so 222 would probably be a pretty good weight. I figured he would put some weight on once he got to Auburn.

I really wished we had gotten Pappoe. Given time I think he will develop into a really good player.

Auburn fired Gus Malzahn. Took them out of the running.
