Word out of Mississippi is that he's a Michigan Lean, but Kentucky may be in the picture now.

Here's what MGoBlog says

quote:

Booker and Johnson do things. Elsewhere in basketball recruiting news—we are downshifting from occasional roundups as football season starts—Devin Booker releases a top five of Michigan, Kentucky, Michigan State, Missouri, and Florida. The latter two are not reputed to be strong contenders, especially Florida. Booker told Scout that he's set up officials with the other four schools and pull the trigger "whenever I feel whatever schools is right for me" and that he's not even sure he'll visit Florida. You are rooting for Indiana decommit (and Kentucky legacy) James Blackmon to pick the Wildcats, as they seem to be the biggest threat at the moment. Indiana blog Inside The Hall thinks Blackmon is all but locked up for the Wildcats, so we've got that going for us.

The primary way things could go pear-shaped if Blackmon takes Kentucky off the table is if Michigan gets a commit from Trevon Bluiett and Booker looks at Stauskas/Irvin/LeVert/Bluiett as a higher hill to climb than Michigan State's roster.

I definitely don't think Mizzou is a leader at all, but I don't know if I would completely discount Mizzou quite yet. The way Mizzou is being written off reminds me of how they were written off with DGB when he visited Bama, Texas, OU and Arky. His dad is beloved in the state and as cool and impressive as UK and UM's midnight madness will be, his visit to MU will be special in a completely different way. If I were a betting man, I'd still go UM, UK then MU but I wouldn't write off any of the schools yet.

IMO even if Blackmon commits (and I'm pretty sure he will), Cal will still push for him. It'll all depend on the others guys I listed that he's recruiting at the wing and whether he'll be willing to compete for that spot.

Where do you think UK stands with the other 2 Blue?

I think we have a very solid shot at Johnson and I wouldn't be at all surprised to see Blackmon commit here soon. Oubre hasn't taken an official yet but will be taking one with UK (no date set just yet). I haven't heard much on Vaughn though.

Same reason we weren't in on him: He wants to follow in his dad's footsteps. We went after him hard at first and backed out because his eyes have been set on Michigan all along.

His dad didn't go to Michigan. His dad went to Mizzou. He grew up in Michigan though.

Heard some crazy stories about this dudes recruitment from an agent a while back. Michigan, Duke and some other school (cant remember) were what I was told he was being pushed to. Im guessing he will end up at Michigan since that made his final list. You never can count out Kentucky especially with their "connections".

Small steps for Mizzou. I'll just take the fact that being in on him still gives Mizzou fans something to actually talk about on the recruiting board...for now.

Just a FYI, they're saying over on Rivals that one of the guys has talked to Booker and he's visiting UK for either Big Blue Madness (first practice) or the '10 vs. '12 UK Alumni Game.

I think I also read he was going to UK for Big Blue Madness. Now how reliable what I read is, I don't know. Heck, right now I can't even remember where I read it. Booker is absolutely awed by Coach Cal. Every time I've read his comments about UK, it shines through.

ETA - I think if UK wants him, they get him. My hopes, frankly, is that you land the other SG's you're after.

That's right. My bad. It's been a while since we were in on him. All I remember was he was very high on Michigan and wasn't looking to give local teams a shot.

He's not originally from Mississippi, He grew up and lived in Michigan most of his life. His dad is from Moss Point on the coast and just moved back. State tried to get in late when we hired Rick Ray, but Michigan, Michigan State, and Missouri (where his dad played) were all on him really early and Kentucky and Duke are no brainers.

Hey Belle or UK fans, y'all hearing anything after Booker's visit? Thought he went to the alumni game that was this week??? Was just wondering if there was any buzz. Think he had an official to MSU right before the UK visit too. Just curious.

From what I heard it went well but his Mom has other ideas (she's apparently pushing Michigan State pretty hard).

It seems to me she's been the driving force on this bus. Ulis decides this week right? And there's talk of him and Booker playing together I believe. What do you hear about Ulis? Might give some indication on Booker.

I think we have a very good shot at landing him. I still think Booker ends up at MSU no matter how appealing playing together may be.

Ulis announced for Kentucky tonight. Some questions about his size defensively but it could be huge to have a 3-4 year kid at the PG position under Cal.

Don't know that this helps or hurts with Booker though. BTW, someone mentioned you might want access to the UK board. Let me know and I'll mention it.
