It shows a ton of weakness on O's part to let him come back after he quit on the team.

O is a weak minded individual that quit his own college football team decades ago. It’s in his French blood

Gilbert should go to UF

All u need to do is look at Pitts

Watch him go somewhere else have half the career Pitts had tho

Hell maybe he will make the smart Choice add him to Bowman this class lit af

Esp if Sorey picks UF

Also would be another transfer Mullen turns into a all sec star

He’d do great at UF, but Iowa, ND, and Bama are TEU if you want to talk about recent development

Nah he would excell more at UF jmo

Other spots are good landing spots too

Just Pitts stats shite on everyone else and the season isnt even over. 11 touchdowns in 6 games!!

Also if he goes top 10 he'll be one of the few TEs in recent memory

Bama? They barely used a monster in OJ. If he was at UF he woulda put up Pitts stats

Show me a TE with better stats then Pitts pls yall downvote go ahead I want more or a name

Cant name anybody. One of the best players in all of cfb

TEU in gville sorry did we even miss Pitts when he went nope Zipp and Gamble balled out the 2nd and 3rd strings

These are all good points and I said the same thing in another thread. The ONLY thing I could see where it might not be a fit would be he would still be 350 miles (approx.) away from home. If he is truly homesick and wants to be close to home I would think Clemson, South Carolina, Georgia or Georgia Tech or Auburn would be better fits.

OJ Howard - 2017 1st round pick

Irv Smith Jr - 2019 2nd round rick

Jaheel Billingsley currently on track to be next in line in 2022

I think our sales pitch to pass-catching tight ends is pretty simple

OJ went first because 1 maybe 2 big games. Great ability at the combine and amazing 40 time

Yet barely ever used at Bama. Talk about talent wasted

Not saying it's the same now but Billingsley have 11 touchdowns in 6 and half games?

Bama fans in -1 mode bitch asses lol its facts

He was definitely underutilized, especially early in his career.

However, we developed the hell out of Irv Smith and Billingsley appears to be on the same path (raw, 1-2 years of development, burst onto the scene).

Billingsley looks and has recently played the part that Irv did 2 years ago (almost eerily similar). If he finishes this and then next the same and ends up a Top 2-3 round pick............that's 3 straight tight ends that are picked in the 1-3rd round.

I'm not saying that every Tight End in America should come to Alabama, but you have to admit that's a pretty damn good sales pitch. Especially considering Irv and Billingsley were not 5-star elite recruits - they were raw athletes who were developed.

Hu? Our recruiting pitch to those kids is "our athletic tight ends develop and get drafted in the early rounds - here is our recent history of that". I'm pretty sure an athletic tight end would look favorably at that sort of evidence. I'm sure there are some who would rather be the focal point of an offense, but I'm guessing quite a few would be fine being one piece of a great offense who also has a great chance at being an early NFL draft pick.

Not sure what that has to do with being bitch mode.

He has 2 touchdowns to Pitts 11

People are talking about Pitts as one of the best in all of cfb? Billingsley? Nah

Not to knock him tho he looks good. Comparing him to Pitts laughable. Pitts makes catches he only dreams of

LOL what? Who the hell said Billingsley was Pitts. Billingsley is a sophomore who literally just started getting used in the passing game 3 games ago after the double bye.

Alabama has a strong position selling to tight ends. That has nothing to do with Florida or Pitts. I haven't even mentioned Florida or Pitts.

He was mentioned with him when I said Pitts is the best by far and Gilbert would be best off at UF

All I'm saying he would kill it there. Disagree with that u dumb

Prob guaranteed to repeat a Pitts. Top 10 or 15 pick I mean if that left any confusion

Oh I'm sure he would. Mullen would scheme the hell of the ball to him. He'd kill it with us too, but probably wouldn't be as much of a focal point as at Florida with the WR class we have coming in.

I also don't think Gilbert is the same type of player Pitts is. Pitts is a TE who runs and moves like a WR. Gilbert is almost more of a WR who has the body of a TE (if that makes sense). He can still be a great player, but Pitts is way more of a matchup problem IMHO. He's insane.

Just get the feeling could put him anywhere just like Pitts and he'd be mismatch nightmare

He had 114 career catches at Alabama. In an offense that hadn’t remotely developed into what it is now.

In fact, Howard and Irv Smith had very similar statistics to Pitts. And if either were in the 2019 or 2020 Alabama offense it would have been even more dominant.

Billingsley is another matter. He’s still developing. But he’s been explosive the last three weeks.

Pitts is most definitely a unique talent. But has Mullen developed any other TEs to make this argument? I know he hasn’t been at Florida long. And I just don’t recall one at Miss State.

very true. What does it say about the schools that are apparently falling over themselves to recruit Gilbert incase he transfers?

I'm not sure if you know this or not but Trask won't be there next year to throw the ball to him and the two guys replacing him aren't gun slingers. Mullen will do Mullen things and change the offense again to fit the qb which will be a power run game.

He'd be better at Bama next year but I'd love him at UGA.
