Can we not keep the damn Cam/Hootie discussions confined to one of the other dozens of threads made on the rant already? Every coach makes exceptions for star players (to different degrees), every coach/program cheats in recruiting (to different degrees), etc. Suck it up, and frankly, the recruiting board should be one place we can escape at least a little of the flaming.

An LSU fan ruining an SECrb thread by going into troll/flame mode? Shocker.
retarded
he made a pretty logical statement in that it would have to be a terrible offense for Saban not to take him
Capstone is the one who furthered the Cam and Hootie discussion by asking an LSU fan's opinion on it

Why should they be suspended for dropped charges?
could be it's own thread, and no room for this on the recruiting board as they are current players

Jesus guys. The 1st rule of all coaches is "can he help the team"
That includes is he such a fukup I need to suspend him or will a team vote look fair. Maybe I can say "He needs us more than we need him" or "we don't discuss player discipline with the media" " We're going to let the legal process run its course before we make any decisions".
I could go on but I gotta make a little girl a pancake.

It's actually a pretty retarded argument, and I am surprised that you think it is logical.
Has Les Miles ever taken a character risk? Absolutely. Does that mean that he has to take every character risk that is good at football?
Posted on 7/20/16 at 5:01 pm to CapstoneGrad06
I didn't; you did. The LSU poster earlier simply alluded to Saban being willing to take on players who have had some trouble. I think that's fair for the recruiting board, given he was still actually discussing a recruit. Carry on. /Hijack

How is it illogical? Saban has a history with taking on players with troubled pasts. I'm not saying that's a bad thing. You're correct that Miles has as well. I'm saying it was a reasonable line of thinking that unless the kid did something awful, Saban might still think he's a take. I think many people would agree, based on recent, publicized events.
It didn't have to get turned into a full blown Cam/Hootie debate. But capstone asked, and then the thread went sideways with a quickness. All restmond did was make an observation based on actual recruits and players that Saban has either taken, or played down their issues.

I guess the fact that he's a shitty player, as well as a drug dealer, never crossed your mind either, huh?
ETA: Meaning all coaches will take a chance on a kid with certain character issues if their talent warrants it. If you are a 5-star player, odds are you are going to have a lot more rope to hang yourself with than someone like Ignont.
In this case, Ignont isn't good enough on the field to be worth the potential headache down the road. So the opposite of someone like Jeremy Hill.

Ignont.
That's why he was asked to leave IMG.

Ahh shite. TS has this been proven? I haven't read this thread just this last page.

It's been the story consistently told on Alabama and Auburn sites since he left IMG.
None of the recruiting mods have the balls to question him on it though.

Eh, he's pretty good
I hope he comes to LSU, especially if LSU loses out on Moses

And again, it's a valid argument to say that just because Saban, Miles, and almost every other SECW coach has taken a few gambles, that doesn't mean they have to take them all. Mentioning Cam Rob and Hootie isn't relevant as neither had character concerns at the time of their recruitment. Resto was just flaming as usual.
Again, all we were mentioning is the reason we've heard bama has bowed out of a race when we were once his leader. Yet LSU fans always take it as another reason to flame Alabama.
