Looks like we're gonna keep Amadi

Will be great if LSU gets stuck with Amadi and Phillips chooses UT.

So Ryan Callahan got it wrong for the first time but this one shouldn't count against him. Coach unexpectedly left 3 days after his prediction.

Update from Callahan

quote:

GigEm247 reported Wednesday that Chavis has accepted an offer to become Texas A&M’s new defensive coordinator, and multiple reports have indicated that Haley — who played under Chavis at Alabama A&M — could follow Chavis.

Phillips said that “definitely” would affect his final decision between the Tigers, Rebels and Vols.

“It definitely does, especially since I’m graduating early and I’m going right into it,” said Phillips, who’s ranked the nation’s No. 110 overall prospect and No. 8 strongside defensive end in the 247Sports Composite.

“Maybe if I wasn’t (going to be an early enrollee), that might not affect it as much. But not knowing if they’re staying or not, it does affect my decision a little bit.”

The 6-foot-3.5, 250-pound Phillips said either Chavis or Haley leaving would “have a big impact” on his decision, but Haley’s fate might play into it “probably more” than what happens with Chavis.

“Coach Haley (would affect things) probably more, especially since I don’t know who my position coach would be,” Phillips said. “They both kind of have a big impact. But the position coach probably is a little bit more.”

“My family’s kind of big UT fans — some of them — and they’re probably the easiest access to go to games and stuff at UT. They’re pretty close to home. I know a lot of people that go there, so I’m pretty comfortable around the campus and the coaching staff and the players, so that’s a big factor.”

LSU gets stuck with Amadi

LSU didn't offer the kid as part of a package

I'd love to get "stuck" with four star recruits all the time

Haley & A&M came to terms but LSU blocking Haley from leaving because he foolishly signed a 2 year contract extension ten days ago. LSU has to grant the waiver of release and is playing hard ball because they don't want him going to A&M.

All of this means that anyone who Haley was recruiting is now either looking at A&M in anticipation of him leaving for there or headed elsewhere. LSU created a tough spot for Haley and hearing the relationship is very sour today.

I understand he signed the contract with assurances that Chavis would be signing with LSU. From the sounds of it he was misinformed into signing the extension by LSU because they assured him Chavis was returning.

LOL at LSU posters in this thread, you're getting Ugo and Jackson. AKA the two turds, while UT gets Martin and Phillips.

Phillips is UT bound. Haley was the critical component for him and it doesn't take a rocket scientist to tell these kids he won't be at LSU long-term much less short-term.

So Haley cannot ask his best friend Chavis if he intends to return? Then I know why they call him Brick.
