If the decision were 100% up to the player, I’d like UGA’s chances. But it’s not, so I still think it’s gonna be A&M.

Damn I’d like to be wrong here.

If he chooses A&M it's because he likes A&M better.

No it's not in this case.

His guardian is a FB coach in Texas. His job prospects can be directly tied to where Bear chooses to attend college.

Additionally, NIL comes into play here too.

Wiltfong just confirmed Bear will be in Athens on Saturday. IMG has the week off.

You're not going to reason with them on this, but you're correct.

I'm not in this and have stayed out...but are you under the impression that parents, proximity,NIL, education and other factors do not play into where a player chooses? Only if he likes a school?

I mean...seriously. Is that what you are saying?

What?? These are the reasons why he would "like" a school:

quote:

parents, proximity,NIL, education and other factors

I'm just not pretending to know the details of his personal relationship and conversations with his guardian.

I think its dumb to say if the kid doesn't choose the school I root for its because his guardian forced him to go elsewhere. Like your boi Floyd.

They are mentally setting themselves up so that if they don't get him "they had no chance anyway". They have no idea if he likes UGA better but is being "forced" into A&M or not.

MacMan has absolutely been a troll in the other thread, but he's not wrong here.

I would argue that "liking a school" comes down to which school gave you the outcome you were most pleased with. Some of that may be the school, the coaches, the NIL, and yes, even other factors that might lead to a better quality of life for your guardian.

It's silly to get bent out of shape or try and posture that "oh he'd have gone with us if it was 100% his choice." It is 100% his *choice*, but he may or may not be the only one impacted by that choice.

And if anyone wants to follow Tony Jones' career path after the recruitment, they'll likely have their answer as to if he was involved. My guess is no one cares enough though, it's just e-dudes measuring e-peens.

Quite possibly, but those are exactly the reasons thtaw ere mention in the posts you were arguing against.

I keep forgetting that you don't read other people's posts. You just make it up as you go along. I beleive it's called free stylin'!

You must have missed this part, right?

Not arguing whether NIL comes into play or not. Just saying its dumb to say it isn't the kids decision when you know nothing.

This i can agree with. He is getting his information from someone else, and that person said Bear loves Georgia. When I see that I typically take it with a grain of salt, because like you said...how would anybody not directly involved know.

Bus on of you guys implied that if he chose Texas A&M it would be only because he likes Texas A&M, and that is not any more true than what he said. There are a lot of factors that go into choosing a school that has nothing to do with personally liking the school. In this day of NIL it will become more prominent.

Hey, don't get me wrong. I think A&M is doing a great job recruiting and a big part of that is NIL....among other things. I also think Jimbo has proven (before NIL) that he is just a really good recruiter.

But this is semantics. "Liking the school" really amounts to liking the outcome at a school... you can probably count on one hand each year the number of kids who pick a school solely because they "liked the university itself", not all of the other factors associated with being at that university, up to and including: coaching staff/stability, depth chart at their position, historical development of their position, "other perks", etc...

No sense in letting someone get a rise out of you over a semantic argument.

It is. I was basically going by his post history of trolling. maybe he wasn't trolling in this case, but it's hard for a troll to complain about being called a troll. When someone troll all the time I tend to read all their posts as if it were a troll.

My biggest complain was that Floyd did specifically call out NIL being a factor (Indicating that there were other reasons a kid might go to a school) and that point was ignored.

My problem with him is he routinely relies on semantics as a "gotcha!" tool....like most trolls.
