He will compete with Merklinger (if he is still around by then) for the starting job in 2026, so that would only be a year. Granted, thats also assuming Nico is gone after his junior year, which may not be the case.

He wont be on campus till Nico Junior year. Nico goes pro after his junior year then, GM and Merk will compete for starting job just after 1 year.

Al Wilson never played on a winning team until he got to UT. It's what drove him to push others further and why he became such an enforcer at practice and during games. His teammates knew what a perfect season meant to him.

Is this why LSU, UGA, Michigan, Alabama, Tennessee along with 30+ other schools recruiting him?

He got everyone’s attention when he was a sophomore. He has an arm that can make every throw on the field. His sophomore year they went 10-2 and semifinal of playoffs. Also I guess that 2-10 record his junior year is the reason he is the #2 QB in the country and #9 overall?

State Championship? He did lead his team to the basketball state championship team his junior season where he averaged a double double this season. He actually had D1 offers for Basketball also.

Can you help me with somthing? What position did he play on defense? I can’t seem to remember why he would let the other team score.

Stats:
67.3%, 3,229 yds, 28 total TD’s- junior year- 2-10
64.8%, 2,341 yds, 19 TD’s- sophomore(1st yr starting)- 9-3

So better numbers his junior year and lost more games. Hmmm!!! Football is more than a 1 man game. Sorry if you didn’t already know that.
If you watch his sophomore year compared to his junior season, you will see that it was even amazing they won 2 games his junior year. The team around him wasn’t good and they also played in D2-AAA. His OLine his junior year was terrible and was running for his life almost every pass. But you know what, you just keep thinking you’re the expert on this. And if you didn’t have Underwood, and he had committed to LSU over Tennessee. Your arse would be on here praising it and gloating about how great of a signing it was and BK is doing great.

Please don't troll on the recruiting board. Go to the Rant for that.

Assuming you are not trolling I will say this. High School records are deceiving. Football is a team sport and it could be that his supporting cast was subpar. A lot of good schools were after him and he appears to have the tools necessary to be very good at the college level.
There have been plenty of players who looked great in high school that struggled and flamed out at the college level...and plenty who flourished at the college level that flamed out at the NFL level. Of all people, LSU fans should be aware of this.

Examples? Josh Booty and Jamarcus Russell.

I suspect you were trying to troll, so I'll repeat. Please take it to the Rant.

Is that why Brian Kelly and LSU were recruiting him?

OK, now I am book marking this thread!

I am not trolling.

I think the kid is massively overrated. He was an early bloomer, but if you watch the tape (not the highlights, the game tape) there is nothing special about him. His completion percentage is a function of the dink and dunk offense he has played in. He literally is just a measurables guy (and really just heighth) and if he keeps growing, he'll be too tall for the position a la Brock Osweiler.

He has greatly benefitted by being the nephew of former Colorado Coach Mike McIntyre and getting introductions other prospects don't get. Coaches were blown away as a freshman and sophomore because he was so much taller than the other QBs, but now he's a bean pole and like I said is on the cusp of going past the 6'5 mark which historically has meant too tall.

By virtue of playing with Tennessee athletes he should be serviceable. But that's it. He won't be a star. He won't win you anything of significance. He won't be a threat with his legs. He won't be drafted. I'm glad he's not committed to LSU. I don't care that LSU kicked the tires. An offer to an underclassmen merely means "we're keeping tabs on you." I take Bryce Underwood, Colin Hurley and even Ricky Collins over a kid who should seriously switch to being a basketball recruit, all day, every day.

And while I know this rustles you Tennessee posters' jimmies, name me a great college QB who couldn't win 20% of his games in high school. Name just one.

So book mark away!

Huh? You are citing players who were great in high school who weren't good in college and JaMarcus who was all world in college and a bust in the NFL. How is this helping the argument for a kid who had OK stats (maybe because he played from behind all the time) but was not a difference maker in high school.

A true 5 star elevates the play of his teammates. McIntyre did not do that. I have never heard of a top 25 player - and a QB no less - who only won 17% of his games. In HIGH SCHOOL.

Josh Heupel is one of the best offensive minds in college football and develops quarterbacks as well as anyone in the country.

We'll trust the former quarterback and heisman runner up's take/vision for MacIntyre. Thanks though, internet user, ROPO.

So he was likely the number 2 option for LSU if Bryce went elsewhere... do you not trust your own coaching staff's evaluation more than your own?

Other recruits who have actually played with him at 7 on 7s and at camps think very highly of MacIntyre, FWIW.

Thanks.

BTW (per 24/7) George MacIntyre offers:

LSU - March 10, 2023
Georgia - March 14, 2023
Notre Dame - March 17, 2023
Clemson - May 31, 2023
Alabama - February 11, 2023 (Reaffirm January 15, 2024)
Colorado - January 25, 2023
Georgia Tech January 25, 2023
Louisville - January 23, 2023
Virginia Tech - January 23, 2023
Texas A&M - January 18, 2023 (Reaffirm December 21, 2023)
Purdue - January 17, 2023
Miami - January 12, 2023
Florida State - December 05, 2022
Auburn - October 20, 2022
Tennessee - August 25, 2022
Michigan - June 6, 2022
Ole Miss - June 6, 2022

He took his last visit to LSU on November 25th...I guess they didn't know his High School's record last season. Why else would they have spent time trying to woo him?

How was the competition he played against? The Tennessee Division II-AAA East is the 4th hardest division in the nation (According to High School Football America)

You have to remember...he started as a Sophomore, as well...so he actually is 11-13 overall, and has won 46% of his games (in HIGH SCHOOL).

As a Sophomore, they lost 44-39 in the State Semi-Finals to State Champion Baylor. So...if he is responsible for them being 2-10, isn't he also responsible for them being less than a TD away from a State Championship Game?

Here he is running in for a TD in that Semifinal game.

Baylor scored with 25 seconds left in the game. MacIntyre moved his team down the field, but the WR was stopped short of the goal line (marked inches short) as time ran out. He only finished the game with 264 passing yards, and his offense only scored 39 points...but, sure...he is a loser because he couldn't elevate his defense to keep the other team under 40 points.

I named those two as examples who did well on either the high school or the college level and flamed out at the next level. Russel was outstanding at the college level and flamed out on the nFL level. Booty was thought to be all world in high school and never clicked in college.

All that to say that if there are that many schools interested in MacIntyre, then there is at least a decent chance he could do well in college. There are no guarantees, but if a college or NFL scout told me a kid was special and you said the kid was massively overrated, I would take the other guys opinion 100% of the time.

I don't care how great you are, there is only so much you can do. The NFL is littered with great players that got on weak teams and struggled or missed horribly.

That’s insane that TD was called short, he wasn’t on the sideline before so the physics of him going through the pylon don’t really lend to him being out prior. Don’t know how it couldn’t have been a TD
