Former 2021 Miami Commit 5* DL Donell Harris, out of Booker T. Washington, is visiting Columbia, SC for Gamecocks Head Coach Will Muschamp's 7 on 7 Tournament event today, along with his high school team and coaches. Seems he's tweeted that he's de-committing from Miami, and re-opening his recruitment. Also, that he's re-classifying for the 2020 recruiting cycle.

(EDIT: Hmmm, several tweets have Harris as a 5*, but 247sports has no composite for him yet, but rate him personally as a high 4*. Rivals and ESPN have yet to give him a star rating, so......)

They haven’t rated people from 2021 yet. I’m sure they’ll include him in the next update.

He goes to Booker T. Washington out of Miami. I'm sure he's a legitimate baller.

Yeah, I understand that - I was just wondering where the "5*" references were coming from. the online sites may end up rating him a 5* when they give him their rating, but to refer to him as one when none of the site have at this time, is inaccurate....

As high as 247 has this kid rated you might as well say he's a 5 star now.

Pretty much guarantees an arrest and a 10 sack season.

Don’t know how this is going to turnout but the fact that he’s at our camp and decomitted from Miami could work in our favor.

He's visited Alabama, Georgia and Clemson all within the last week.

Interesting
quote:

The Hurricanes will likely continue to recruit the elite edge rusher seeing as how former UM defensive lineman Demetrius Jackson is Harris' defensive line coach at Booker T. Washington, but some connected to the recruitment believe that schools like Alabama, Georgia and Clemson might hold the inside track to land Harris' signature.

That’s fairly irresponsible on behalf of the Miami writer.

He has not visited Clemson.

The decommit thread on Canes Insight is 42 pages long. I kid you not...

There was an article last week that said he planned to visit both UGA and Clemson yesterday, but instead he visited USC today with his entire HS team for the 7 on 7 event. I don't know how the initial reports came about - maybe the team was going to try to do back-to-back deals at UGA, Clemson, and then USC, but that's a bit much for FB, isn't it?

I dunno. The kid looks pretty talented, but at 6-4, 210 as a WDE, he needs another year at least to add more meat on them bones. But if he re-classifies to come to college with the 2020 class - well, both Burch and Myles Murphy (NC) are in the same class at the same position, and they are around 250-260.

I would hope we get them first, if we had the druthers, but that's just me....

If UGA, Clemson and Bama get in on him idk how likely it is that he gives SCAR a serious look. But it is kinda cool for y'all that he decommitted while on SCAR's campus

Miami has trouble signing the most elite talent. The kid's father told him he should look around and see what else is out there. Sounds like good advice to me. I'll be shocked if the kid ends up at Miami.

At 210, the odds of being anything other than OLB starting on college are LOW... Just reality. I think UGA would only be considering for OLB at least

You say that to mean what? This kid plays at the highest level of high school football in Florida and maybe the nation. He's legitimate. Of course he needs to put on weight and he will. And, he likely is projected to be an OLB from here on out.

It would seem pretty obvious... He's an OLB at the next level... My comment wasn't particularly lacking in specificity...

ETA: Perhaps grammatically my autocorrect could use some help..
