IMO he has silently committed to both schools, thus the optimism from both sides. Usually in a tie, I lean towards the home team. That is what I am thinking.

Butch's first full cycle class had THIRTY TWO guys; 0 5*, 16 4*, and of course it just wouldn't be UT without a plethora of 3* which butch landed 16 of that year. Avg player ranking- 89.5, total score- 275.
Compare that to kirby's first full class this year. We'll just look at RIGHT NOW, although note we have several big fish left on the board. Currently with only 20 commits, we have 2 5*, 15 4*, and only 3 3*. 85% of our class is ranked 4* or higher. Avg player ranking- 93.5, total score- 291.
Even without the guys we still have left, kirby's first full class as a head coach ever completely dumps on butch's first at UT.
I'd hate to see the fap levels by your fans if you ever bring in a haul like this.

It's quite similar to Butch's 2015 haul with a better avg. star rating right now.
I made the comparison because Butch was absolute shite as a head coach in his first season, much like Kirby was this annum, and VOLS were blinded by that due to recruiting rankings, similar to Georgia fans otb. At least the bulldyke had the excuse of a shitty roster to fall back on during the first two years. IIRC, Lyle did not inherit the 6th most talented team in the country per 247 from Dooley.

7-5 with the 6th most talented roster is a Butch Jones type of coaching job imo.
