I don't really know why you would compare Butchs 2nd full class with Kirbys first

because there's no way to make butch and kirby's first full recruiting classes look similar.

Being honest, I totally understand why people (NOT just ut fans, but anyone in general) would think we're delusional at the moment. I mean results speak for themselves and we're sitting at 7-5, which is awful. Can't deny that. But what people overlook is that this is could be the best recruiting class (on paper obviously..won't know about IRL until 4 years from now) we've ever signed, it's definitley better than any richt put together in his 15 years. On top of that, it's not like we're neck and neck with our rivals. We are lapping the field of UT/UF/AU/SC/GT who are our primary rivals, which is almost unheard of. It's not just that we're recruiting better than them, we're putting some frickin distance between us. And if kirby can do this after a 7-5 season...what's he gonna do if we start winning 9,10,11 the next few years?

Their laughter is almost surely a product of their fear.

Kirby inherited a shitty oline. Probably bottom 3rd D1 wise if not lower.

He has arguably the best line coach in the biz. Conservatively the best haul of elite OL recruits this program has seen since they started giving out stars.

All this under one full year of recruiting so the staff has hardly scratched the surface.

quite similar to Butch's 2015 haul with a better avg. star rating right now.

First, as mentioned..that wasn't butch's first full cycle so it's not really apples to apples.

Second, '15 yall ended up with one 5* and and 15 4*...we currently have more 5* and same amount of 4* (with likely more to come) with 10 less players and a month still to go.

And not sure whre you got the info on avg star rating but it's not even close. Butch's in 15 avg star rating was 89.4, while Kirby's current class is 93.5. That's a pretty massive difference.

The bottom line fact is that it's been YEARS upon years since UT has ever inked a class as highly touted as the one kirby is about to sign in his first full year coming off a 7-5 season.

bullshite. Every time there's a new coach a top 20 program, they always have an impressive first class.

Keep Chaney on staff and see what happens to your recruiting next year.

Serious question...I know rivals operates that way but does 247?

If that's the case, when we get bishop/gibbs/bryant or whoever the hell else we get (not saying all those guys but we definitely aren't done) that'll remove the very few 3* guys we do have.

#4 on 247 in 2015 .04 points from 3rd place FSU

this is like comparing apples to basketballs since the rankings of each team is going to vary wildly from year to year.

The equalizer would be to compare the actual total scores, not just their rank. For instance the class UGA will end up with this year could be #1 some years this century but won't even have a chance of sniffing higher than 3rd due to the hellaclasses bama and OSU are putting together.

Lmao you don't really believe that, do you? Georgia had more talent than VOLS per 247 and still lost, at home, to Butch Jones.

BUTCH JONES for crying out loud. Mark Richt would've won that game iwabh

in one of the dumbest and most misleading metrics out there, but cling to it if you want.

nd still lost, at home, to Butch Jones.

correct, a coach in his first year ever on the job lost to a coach in his like 8th. Is that surprising?

In Richt's first year ever as a head coach he lost to SC (at home!) tubbs, and boston friggin college.

Sometimes, somehow...coaches can gain experience over time. Crazy I know.

Said he's made his mind up between Bama and UGA. Announcing the 1st in the UA game. Both camps seem confident.
