That sucks balls about Rose. I had really high hopes for him coming out of high school. He was a stud.

Again; Rose participated at the Army AA game and showed that he absolutely wasn't "a stud". No surprise he arrived at Auburn and a few months later was passed quickly by every other DB we signed that year.

Are we going to look into taking another DB now with the departure of Rose?

I doubt it. I think the coaches knew Rose would not be returning. Going into 2013, we'll have Chris Davis, Therezie, Ryan White, Jon Mincy, Whitehead, Josh Holsey, TJ Davis, Jonathan Jones, Kamryn Melton, and Jahmere Irvin-Sills all at CB (though Whitehead is potentially moving to safety)

THIS^ called this one before NSD. I believe it was AMMAU i was having this discussion with about him being way overated and too small and poor cover skills to be rated as a higher corner.

Nah, we had discussions about Yeldon. I wasn't here until after NSD of Rose's year

He may have been everything else you listed, but he was not small.

I don't think so. When you consider depth at a position, you don't usually count every single player assigned to the position. You pick a cut off number, or a number you feel comfortable with. You replenish based off that number. We're deep enough that the coaches probably won't be pressed to make up for his spot on this cycle. 2014 is deep class at DB.

Could be wrong here, but i could have swore remember reading a Rivals chat on him where they said he was not near as tall as his listed height. I may just be misremembering that part and they said he just played too small for his height and couldnt cover anyone. Was a long time ago but the chats were posted in TD, too bad the search function is terrible here.

I remember seeing him while tailgating before the stAte game in 2010. I was like, "man, I can't wait until he's in orange and blue..." It also really felt like a steal from Saban at the time.

Yea 6-1 is close enough. Forget that part then. I guess they meant he played too small for his height.

Why everyone seemed to know he liked Auburn. I hate for a player to lose out on a dream. He should have stayed and worked at providing depth and getting his degree there. If he cant start at Auburn he wont ever make the league.

The height is correct, but the dude couldn't have weighed more than 165-170. He was about as skinny as they come.

Yeah he enrolled in either late May or early June. Haven't really heard much, which I guess is good because he's staying out of trouble, but he'll have a role this season more than likely, since he's our biggest back

It is simply amazing that Neiko Thorpe played all 4 years and graduated from Auburn...

Just amazing.
