As you alluded to above, Tyler Love was a 5* that just enjoyed being a frat daddy more than being a football player.
let's just be honest here, he should never have been a 5*
Vlachos was a much better play than him even in HS.

I was amazed how many OTs they gave high rankings to in '08, I think 8 or more in the top 30? There is 1 this year in the top 30.

Foster is a top 5 player, Thomas is a fringe top 10.
Foster = ILB
Thomas = OLB
Not seeing the comparison here...

That same player could have still played the position this season with the same result and kept Cyrus out of the lineup. But Bama switched to Center because they could, not because it was detrimental to the success of the OL.
And here you were, talking about hype and future results being unknown, and then you make a definite statement like this.

Both would be inside players at Bama or in 34 in general. Just like they'd both be OLBs in a 43. Nico Johnson was an OLb prospect on there, yet he's never played a down outside.
They just now switch Foster from outside to in a few days ago anyway...

You are right, I made a misstep with a definitive quote like that. Although you could make a case I have a little more room work with with a proven commodity in Barrett Jones than with the assumption of someone still in HS.
And granted at this point, some words are being thrown together without proof reading for argument linear responses. This episode of Cowboy Bebop has me distracted keeping up...

I see Thomas as playing outside.... especially being 6'3 and less than 210. Unless he gains 40 lbs, he is absolutely the kind of athlete you want playing on the outside. Especially with his speed.
Also, do you think Barrett Jones would have let Nick Fairley destroy him like Anthony Steen did in the 2010 IB to be one of the deciding factors in the outcome of that game?

How old are you, joey? You must be around me and Maggie's age if you like Toonami.

Good question...
DBZ was the tits back in the day.

You're younger than me. That I know fur sure.
I'm in my mid-twenties. Toonami was the tits back in my early HS days.

Also, did you watch Samurai Jack ever? Re-watching that show is fantastic.

So another great player will end up making the same plays as the best player at his position in a decade.
Somehow, that doesn't really make a lot of sense to me. That's like saying replacing Julio Jones with DeAndrew White will have no effect on your offense. You can't seriously believe this....
And in 2008 Jerrell Harris was the next great LB and Dont'a Hightower was an "athlete".

He could end up playing SAM, but it will be for his coverage ability, not his weight. Bama has played/started 2 LBs inside that weighed 220 or less under Saban, if they are talented enough, they'll be out there. Thomas will probably finish high school around 220, then be around 225-230 fall of his freshman year.
Many consider him to be similar to CJ Mosley, who may also get the starting job at SAM this year. But a majority of his snaps will come as an ILB because of Bama's usage of sub packages.

It pretty much came down to not being aware of a ball behind him. So in that situation, I could see it playing out the same. And not to dance around your question, yes I believe Fairley could have exploited BJ if he was at the RG spot in the Iron Bowl. Jones >>> Steen, but Fairley was >>> to every Guard that year. He would have had a better chance than Steen, although Steen is suppose to be the strong man on the OL, I could see Jones getting bullrushed by Fairley for that or a similar play.

I had so many models from that series in my room. Only Gundam I ever liked. The Gundam with the boxing gloves was the tits. Gundam Maxter!
