It's pretty self-explanatory. I wouldn't say Bama has a good shot by any means, but I also wouldn't say they're a long shot. Liner is interested, but I still think he stays.
Also, apparently OJ Howard had some interesting things to say when our coaches were visiting him for an evaluation. Story on Rivals soon

At this point, I'd say it's closer to a long shot for Alabama than a good shot. I'm buying what Liner is saying, it would just suck on a major level for him to buy into the JACK linebacker gibberish and flip on us. We can't lose out on those types of players, especially with him growing up and Auburn fan and comitting so early.
Sounds interesting, I'll be sure to check that out...

Here's the story
quote:
"It's tough because you are committed to a school and you don't want to try and make it seem like you aren't committed, you want to respect that school. But at the same time, it's the recruiting process so you have to look at both schools like they have a chance. I don't try to put one school down or one school above another because you haven't signed any papers yet. I'd say both schools are the same, I talk with both coaches, I've been to both schools, and at the end of the day you have to see what school fits you the best."

Do we know if Dee is still pushing OJ to flip? I would assume so, but I haven't heard anything in a while.

So Saban forced a commitment for OJ by telling him someone else will take the spot if he does not. OJ committed just in case he wants to go to Bama, but is still looking around. Does Saban's rule "you shop, we shop" still apply?
And if this post is going to draw shitstonegrad into the thread, I apologize in advance.

Too bad. I'm here to annoy you.

As it would if O.J. Howard de-committed because he's being told we don't "motion" the TE.

We aren't feeding him that, though...
He's been watching Alabama and Auburn practice/play, although he seems misinformed about Alabama not motioning tight ends. I'd rather not have him as tight end anyways.

Liner said he's throws it out there every now and then (puts in a good word for Auburn), but that he doesn't constantly nag at him about it. I take it he doesn't want to pester Howard.

He's a freak at TE. He's the best TE prospect the state has had in years.
Posted on 4/19/12 at 10:23 pm to CapstoneGrad06
Yeah I definitely want him at TE. He's gonna cause a lot of mismatches with his size and athleticism.

Huh?

I just don't want him buried on the depth chart. He's a great athlete, so I'd like to see him at linebacker. Think about it. As of now, I see him and Ricky Parks as equals since they were recruited on about the same level. I'd rather have Parks at tight end (because I'm not convinced he could play anywhere else), and have Howard at linebacker. Get all the best players on the field at once.
See where I'm going with this?

At 6'6, I don't see him as a LB. He's an elite TE, he'd get on the field over Uzomah and Fulse once he got acclimated to the college game. I won't say anything about Parks because he isn't even on campus yet
Posted on 4/19/12 at 10:30 pm to TTsTowel
Then it's settled. Y'all will stop recruiting him.
Posted on 4/19/12 at 10:31 pm to TTsTowel
He has a good bit more potential than Parks IMO. Plus you have multiple TE sets so you can't have just 2 or 3 TE's on a roster. Howard will probably work his way up the depth chart pretty quickly, regardless of what team he ends up at.

OJ Howard at TE is about as crazy as Liner at Jack LB

The main thing AU has going in its favor is his GF attends Faulkner U & wants him close by, & she is HOT!

Other than him being an AU fan and apparently liking our offense more...
