BOL confirmed that Reuben was in T-Town around noon today. He's been there for at least 7 hours.

I see you are on the same side as me when it comes to the CBs left on the board. Smith and Langley, right?

Paul Strelow from 24/7 had this to say regarding Alabama's options at getting a 2nd QB in this class:

quote:

Got to see No. 2 QB candidate Parker McLeod (Walton/Marietta, Ga.) for the first time throwing at Friday night's MVP Camp in nearby Alpharetta, Ga.

He told me afterward he'll know a lot more about his future after tomorrow, as he understands he's going up against competition to be the guy the Crimson Tide ultimately pursues for its second quarterback pledge. Considering Oklahoma State recently nabbed its quarterback in Luke Del Rio, McLeod senses this is his chance, or else he'll have to reevaluate his options.

(Side note: The guy I really want feedback about from Monday is '14 Devlin Hodges, a 6-2 passer from Mortimer Jordan in Kimberly, Ala. IMO, he's going to net SEC offers, and if he were 1-2 inches taller, he'd be swimming in 'em. Hodges will be camping at Bama and Auburn among a few others coming up ... so more on him to come, perhaps).

Interesting question posed to Charles late last week: Who'd he take between Ferguson, Jennings and McLeod (maybe Joshua Dobbs was in there, too; he should be). It's fascinating because the best answer, IMO, isn't related to who's the best prospect, but instead who is the most ideal fit at Alabama.

Ferguson has the moxie and is a playmaker. But I tend to feel Saban wants QBs he can program into efficient managers, and that's not Ferguson's style at all.

Jennings is the best pure passer of the bunch. But at 6-0/6-1, he doesn't exactly fit the profile of Saban's past quarterbacks, to my knowledge, and what you see from Jennings now is what you're gonna get physically.

McLeod has the requisite size and mechanics and throws a nice ball, although my limited sample suggests he's a notch below the others in terms of accuracy and just overall presence. I want my quarterback to command the room, so to speak, and I'm not sure that's his persona.

Dobbs doesn't have an offer, so maybe he shouldn't even be in the discussion. And it's quite possible he has enough offers now where he doesn't entertain being the No. 2 QB in a class. His profile is enhanced by his strong academic record/character; he doesn't have a trait that separates him, but he has enough size, enough arm, enough accuracy, enough presence to make him arguably the most intriguing and safest option among this cast, IMO.

Will definitely be compelling to see what direction the Tide go in.
