Watching Jonathan Allen's tape his speed reminds me of Bruce Irvin, but actually looks like he can play the run unlike Irvin. He is the future Jack.

I wonder how Anderson's arm length compares to Upshaw's. Weren't Upshaw's on the short side?

Charles Power responded to my EJ Moss question:
Sorry for missing this TideSaint...always enjoy our QB discussions.
I just rewatched Moss's soph. highlights- he's a true dual threat quarterback and is one of the better athletes I've seen at QB in the 2014 cycle. He can stick his foot in the ground and get upfield effectively and runs a lot of read option stuff and what looks to be an inverted veer (like what Neb. runs with Taylor Martinez, Malzahn and TCU run as well). It's pretty apparent Moss accounts for the vast majority of Ashville's offense, both passing and rushing.
I'd like to see more throws from him to get a better picture of how he's progressed as a passer in the past year or so. Most of the passes I watched were within 15 yards, so it's difficult to get a gauge where he is in terms of throwing downfield. The skill set looks to be there though, but I can't assume until I see it on the film- that's just me. A lot of the stuff they run is shorter play action stuff off the option. He has a lot of time to show that type of stuff though, whether it's at camps or as a junior. It's still really early with him being a 2014 prospect.

I'm at the baseball field at the moment. I'll see what I can find on this cat later tonight.

You could be right, but for the majority of Anderson's senior year I watched him at DE. He played DE the entire game against my alma mater Fairhope High School. And I am sure every freshman LB between Ragland, Lee, Anderson, and Devall will all get a look at all 4, plus DE for Anderson.
They used him a lot like Hightower, dropped him from middle to End in both 3 and 4 man fronts when necessary.
Several months ago, the big rumor was Ragland outside at SAM and JACK, but it apparently has been proven false for now. Athletically he could fill JACK, but I'm currently unaware of his arm length for the position.
So it would look like:
J- Ragland
M- Anderson
W- Devall
S- Lee
Not that I think they'll ever all play at the same time.
I'm still surprised Hayes ended up on offense, people jizzed over his coverage ability. I know they are too logjammed at the position, but finding a coverage LB who fits the 34 isn't always easy...

Do we really need to take 2 QB's this cycle? I know there is a ridiculously high number of pocket passers, but with Morris coming this Summer and Bateman expected to enroll in January, seems like we could maybe use the spot elsewhere.
Particularly given the fact that elite athletes are lining up all over the place, hoping for a spot.

They were average for OLB, but an inch or so short for DE.
Unlike Melvin Ingram, who had t-rex arms...

It's not a lock that Hayes ends up at Hback is it?
I thought they were just going to give him a look once he arrived. I never really expected him to stick.

Bruce just needs to avoid the 3-3-5 and 4-2-5 going forward, really put him out of position a lot.
Seattle is gonna use him as Carroll's LEO, which is somewhat akin to the rush LB. Von Miller started up the trend again, stick fast 34 OLBs at 43 OLB and still let them rush the passer.

It's not a lock he stays there, but I've heard for a while he'll start there. RR might get a look there too, as he was interested in the position if it got him on the field faster.

I've heard that also and while we have the depth to let a guy like one of those two move to offense, I still feel like deep down it bothers Saban a little bit.
I hope EW sticks at WR though.

I personally don't think we need 2 in this class. But I'll hold judgement on this kid until I take a look at his film tonight.

Is that because you're happy with what we have or because you want two next cycle?
If you knew AJ were going pro after this season would you want two this cycle?

Saban deep down is all like, "I MAKE 0-11-0 DEFENSE, Y U NO LET ME USE???".

With the lack of many "big" WRs right now, I hope he does too.
