Not many "superstar" recruits have (ever) kept their recruiting news so close to the vest as Monaca, PA standout wide receiver, Robert Foster. It's rare that you'll see a quote from him or even hear about a visit that he's taking in the future. Usually, any news on Foster that comes out is a rumor or a few days late when someone close to the situation reveals it.
The only time that an early glimpse into Foster's plans is when he gives it himself... on Twitter. Today, he did just that.
Despite the question marks around Foster's recruitment, many believe that it is a Penn State, Pitt, Bama race. Recently, Ohio State was in the thick of it but rumors then circulated that the Buckeyes were no longer recruiting the number one wide receiver in the country. Many speculated on why that happened, but that's not really my thing. Bottom line is, if true, Penn State's odds went from 25% to 33% for landing Foster.
Robert Foster is an immense talent comparable to Derrick Williams from the 2005 class. When you watch his film, it's as though you know you're watching a future NFL player. It will be interesting to see if Penn State can stay in the running for his services.

Bateman visited seven schools, and at each of them coaches threw out varying recruiting tactics. Each university had a locker with a jersey bearing his name prominently displayed. Auburn sent him — and his mother — around campus with a set of attractive twin sisters.
“It was kind of weird,” he said, “but I guess that’s how they do it.”
He added: “Everyone, of course, tried to put on a show. If anything, Alabama did the least of that.”

Is anybody else hearing the rumors about RF transferring from Auburn High? If true I'm wondering where he's headed. Its probably wherever Flowers gets hired.

Those rumors have been circulating for a couple days. A couple different schools in Georgia have been mentioned. I'm sure Coach Flowers and whether or not RF would be eligible to play in Georgia are big factors. Bone said yesterday that he's looking into the rumors.

Do any of you guys have a TI sub? Here's an interesting quote from a recruit from Florida committed to another school:
I think it might be Derrick Henry but I'm not positive.
quote:
"I was talking to my coaches and we were breaking down the schools," says this standout prospect who's committed to another SEC school. "We were talking about what I think and what they think, and right now I think that Alabama is a place where everything that I want in college can happen."
I think it might be Derrick Henry but I'm not positive.

IDK but hopefully it's Henry or Fulwood

Kelvin Taylor, Derrick Henry, Ahmad Fulwood, Caleb Brantley, Joey Bosa, Greg Bryant are the only players that have had/have interest in Alabama out of Florida

Really doubt it's Taylor, since Bama has 2 RBs and he's a UF legacy. And Bosa and Bryant aren't committed to SEC schools. So it must be Henry, Fulwood, or Brantley

Here's a free TI article. Most of it is pretty well known, but the Derrick Henry tidbit is interesting to say the least:
A few recruiting thoughts...
A few recruiting thoughts...
quote:
--First of all, on yesterday's commitment of Murray-Cottonwood, Utah quarterback Cooper Bateman to Alabama. Per his tape, good looking athlete who moves well and makes the throws down the field accurately. By all accounts a good leader. Takes a mature kid...or at least one strong minded enough to block out the external factors, as Saban calls them, to handle all that goes with playing quarterback at Alabama. Another plus is that he'll enroll early. QB depth chart is looking much better with three smart, young kids willing to compete and earn their spot. That's an upgrade.
--It'll be interesting to see where (if) Alabama might turn for another QB. Posted several weeks ago to keep an eye on Jackson Prep, MS standout Ryan Buchanan. No UA offer yet. But he's been gaining some steam with recent offers from Florida and Oklahoma State. Arkansas and Auburn are very high on his list. He's Ole Miss' #1 target. Has some ties to the Rebels, but there is some talk that he might prefer the stronger programs.
--A TI poster asked about Derrick Griffin, the outstanding WR from Rosenberg, Texas. Had a lengthy conversation with his high school coach a few weeks back. First of all, the coach was very open that Derrick has several hurdles to overcome before he even thinks about college football (or basketball). It starts with his academics. Quite a ways to go. And there are other issues that the coach said he would have to try to help Derrick get straightened out before he'd be an asset for any college program.
--Still feel Alabama is in solid position with Loganville-Grayson, GA LB/DE Robert Nkemdiche (6-5, 280). Ole Miss is confident (their coaches are talking) that they have a strong shot, partly due to his brother playing there. But if I had to make a guess right now, I'd still favor Alabama at the end of the day. Grayson, GA HS coach Mickey Conn told me that Nkemdiche is "Cornelius Bennett, Derrick Thomas, Keith McCants and Lemanski Hall all rolled up into one..." Conn said that Nkemdiche hits like Hall, who Conn said was the "most physical hitter" he had ever seen.
--Alabama assistants Kirby Smart and Jeff Stoutland were in Miami two days ago visiting the school of highly touted linebacker Matthew Thomas (6-4, 206). Thomas favors Alabama over several other big-time programs. Wants to play in a 3-4 defense. More on him later.
--Look for Yulee, FL running back Derrick Henry, a Georgia commit, to make his final decision shortly after a visit to Alabama on June 8. The 6-3, 240-pound Henry is "very, very" interested in the Tide. More later.
--The feeling has been that Alabama was the leader over Florida for Ashburn-Stone-Bridge, VA linebacker Jonathan Allen. The 6-3, 235-pounder, who has delay a visit to UA a couple of times this month, says that he expects to make the visit to UA this weekend.
--Alabama is also thought to be the leader for Baltimore-Gilman DL/TE Henry Poggi (6-4, 262). Poggi recently made his third trip to UA. It was thought that Alabama's position with Poggi might diminish with Sal Sunseri's departure to Tennessee a few months ago. Sunseri recruited Poggi for UA and was college roommates with Poggi's father, Gilman head coach Biff Poggi. But Gilman recruiting coordinator Henry Russell told TI that Sunseri's departure from UA would not likely have any impact on Poggi's consideration of the Tide. Michigan is also thought to be a solid contender.

If Henry, UGA tears will flow.
They've been possitive he wont flip, such lines as....
"I know recruiting isnt a sure thing, but Henry is"
"Henry would be the last one to flip in our class, he's been recruiting for us for a year"
etc.

Henry, who remains committed to Georgia for now, plans to make an unofficial visit to Alabama on June 8. "After that visit on June 8th," Henry says," when I come back that Sunday or Monday, that's when I will know where I'm going."
I think thats the quote

Tenpenny, Jones, and Henry would be downright unfair to the rest of the league

It sounds like Bama has a real shot with Henry, especially with the last few articles about him not being very solid to UGA and having strong interest in Bama and Tennessee. I still think he sticks with UGA because of Ramsey but it will be interesting to see how it all plays out.

What would happen with Kamara if Henry decides he want to be at Alabama?
Posted on 5/17/12 at 7:59 pm to Chadaristic
I bet Kamara would go to UGA if we get Henry. Even if Henry stays with UGA, Kamara may still go there. I just have no clue where we would use Henry. He wants to play RB but would be a better fit at LB IMO.
Posted on 5/17/12 at 8:01 pm to T Rich3
He's awfully big to be a RB. I think LB would suit him better as well.

This is my big concern with him. I highly doubt he stays at RB, and I'm not quite sure if he has the head hunter mentallity that's required for LB.

I think this may be a situation where we take him as an athlete and see where he best fits when he gets to campus.
