TS, you see many HS coaches go with a spread concept over a power concept because of OL play. At least that is what I think.

It is much easier to grip it and rip it out on the edges than to push the D off the line. The shotgun also give the QB an extra second to get rid of the ball.

I'm from Mississippi and maybe 3 prominent teams in entire state run a passing spread offense.

The most prolific high school team in MS, South Panola, might throw it 50 times in an entire season.

I think teams are going to the spread because they see college teams going to it.

Don't get me wrong, if the spread works for you, use it. What is mind boggling to me is that I've analyzed 8-10 QBs in the last few months and most of them don't have any film taking a snap from under Center.

As a matter of fact, the only two that I can remember having the majority of their snaps come from under Center are Zaire and Hackenberg .

Something else I just realized is that those two were the guys I wanted most in this class.

He's taking a critical thinking course online this year, so he should be good.

For his sake I hope he isn't attending the same online school as Duron Carter.

at you thinking a DB's coach has a big say in who a team drafts.

I would think a DB coach would have a lot of input if the team is targeting a DB with their 1st overall pick and a couple of options are available.

Me too. Gotta go to Vernon, Alabama, tonight for my son's baseball game.

By the way, do any of you remember any good Bama players coming from Vernon? I live in Caledonia which is right on the MS/AL border, but for the life of me can't remember if we have had anyone from Vernon in the last 20 odd years.

Hey TS, i'm originally from Vernon, haha. Nah, we haven't. Vernon is so small that it's tough to imagine many good kids coming up there, but what's his name made it out of Caledonia, so it'll happen eventually.

I think the closest was Brandon Lewis went to South Lamar didn't he?

If Forrest Gump from Greenbow, AL and Abrams Peabody from Leroy, AL can make it...there is always a chance that someone from Vernon, AL will get there one day.

Sorry, it was Michael Williams from Reform.

Reminds me of a funny story. I grew up in the area and i'm obviously familar with northwest Alabama (Reform, Gordo, Fayette, etc) so when me and really the only other heavy touring comic out of MS, guy by the name of Ben Hutcherson, drive through Alabama on road trips he always feels like he's going to get raped(the on going 'Mississippi thinks Alabama is shite; Alabama thinks Mississippi is shite' fight) and we were driving through Reform and he says "where are we?" and I said "Reform, Alabama". And he starts freaking the frick out. I guess just the idea of Reform set him on edge or the name or something. It was fun. He also hates Montevallo
