So would Foster, Allen, and Mathew Thomas be the best LB class ever?

Noo, last years was better imo.

Last years was really good, but that's 3 5 stars and the top 3 out of the top 4 LB's in the country.

The fact that we could pull in those two LB hauls in back to back years is what amazes me.

I don't think Thomas ends up at Bama.

Analyze That

Sorry for the wait dude. I just got back into my "comfort zone." Being away from home for two weeks really takes you out of your element, at least for me anyways.

Now, on to Cody Thomas:

24/7 Profile

Junior Highlights

First off, let me preface this analysis with the following statement:

His video quality sucks arse. I know what the videographer was doing, he has the footage on fast forward (2X), but it really hinders the perspective when watching this kid.

Now on to my thoughts:

-Good size, but he is probably lighter than his listed weight of 220 lbs. Good height.
-Mechanically this kid is legit. He has a very fluid throwing motion and follows through better than any other QB I've seen in this class, save Hackenberg.
-He has excellent footwork and doesn't show the propensity to delve into "happy feet" in the pocket.
-Good pocket awareness too.
-Didn't take snaps from under Center.
-I can't gauge his arm strength due to the video being fast forwarded. It's hard to track the ball when the video skips to the reception immediately after it leaves Thomas' hand.
-I also can't gauge his athleticism due to the video. On some snaps he moves around, but the video skips so much that it's hard to tell how fast he is.

I hope this is what you were looking for AT. I wish I had some more film on him that wasn't edited like the one above so I could give you an accurate evaluation on his arm, which is the most important area for a QB. I'll try to find some on the interwebz and will update this post if I do.

ETA: I found some Freshman footage, but no Sophomore film.

Freshman Highlights

Much better film quality than his Junior tape, but he has played two full seasons of high school football since then so take the following with a grain of salt:

-His mechanics have improved greatly from 2 years ago. Shows me he can adapt. Good sign.
-He looks very athletic in this film, but again, it's two years old and he has put on more weight so he may not be as fast now.
-Still no snaps under Center.
-He has an above average arm, but nothing eye opening. However, again, this film is two years old.

So there you have it. I still would like to see something, un-edited of course, on him throwing the ball recently. He looks like he could be very good, especially in Oklahoma's offense.

ILB recruiting has been insane the last several years. We had freshmen all-american 4 straight years: Ro, Dont'a, Nico, CJ. The streak was broken last year but I think we can all agree that DePriest was outstanding and will be in the same league as those other 4.

So who will be the freshman stud ILB next year? Ragland, Devall, or Lee?

Smart money is probably on Lee since he has a head start on the others.

Alec Morris knows what it’s like to wait for his time.

The Alabama signee from Allen High School in Texas waited his turn behind now TCU sophomore QB Matt Brown as well as Tucker Carter, the QB on Allen’s 2008 state championship team.

But when he took the field as a junior, he began turning heads and, with the exit of former Tide backup QB Phillip Sims, he hopes to do the same when he arrives in Tuscaloosa later this month.

“Growing up, I was always kind of fighting my way to the top,” Morris told al.com. “I feel like it’s just going to be a similar situation (at Alabama).”

AJ McCarron is entrenched as Alabama’s starting quarterback, but the pecking order behind him is more muddled following Sims’ transfer to Virginia. Redshirt freshman Phillip Ely is the apparent leader as backup with Blake Sims possibly in the mix.

“That’s an opportunity for me,” Morris told al.com. “I see that as a great opportunity to be able to walk in as a true freshman. You never know what’s going to happen. It’s just fired me up, made me want to work harder.”

As a junior, Morris threw for 2,533 yards and combined to pass and run for 30 TDs, according to al.com. He was even better as a senior, throwing for 3,242 yards and 31 scores.

“AJ didn’t come in early and by the middle of the season, he was a very good backup quarterback when he was a freshman,” Tide coach Nick Saban said. “Alec has got a lot of positive qualities and is a very bright guy. I think he’ll be able to develop nicely for us.”

Sounds dumb, but I wish states start outlawing this for public schools.

Why don't we have a big recruiting weekend in the summer like AU, UGA, and UF do?

The difference is that Foster might be the only one that is physically ready to play. The other two are too small
