And if it turns out true can we change Goodbread's name to Sweetbread?

Who doesn't love a good Sweetbread? Everyone enjoys indulging in a thymus gland.

Has no one posted all of the knowledge that Lucky dropped on BOL this morning about the team and Saban?

This one is my favorite. I'll post the rest too.

quote:

This guy I spoke with yesterday has been with Saban for years and knows him very well. He said that that Saban will absolutely retire at Alabama and that he and Terry love it in Tuscaloosa. There's no exact timetable, but the concensus is that Saban will coach another 5+ years. So what if Texas comes at Saban for $8-10 million a year? The answer was interesting ... "Everyone knows that Saban is NOT motivated by money. So many of them are so most people think ALL college coaches are motivated by money. Everyone that knows Spurrier knows he's motivated by money, but Saban isn't motivated by money. He is motivated by power and legacy. And he has the power and building the legacy where he's at now. He's not leaving for another job and money doesn't motivate him."

There's a lot of talk about the defensive backs going into spring. All eyes are obviously going to be on the cornerbacks, but safeties are going to be interesting to watch this spring and fall. There's a lot talent at safety and its a good mix. Getting Landon Collins was significant and that's stating the obvious. Most evaluators expect him to be a Julio, Trent, Dre type of talent with major NFL upside.

However, the player that's going to probably make the greatest impact this year is Vinnie Sunersi. "He just gets it ... he understands Sabans/Smart's defensive scheme. He will hit you, but mostly he is football smart. They trust him."

As we talked about yesterday, the mental side is so important to the Tide staff and Sunseri that guy.

quote:

I did ask a defensive coach about Haha a couple/few months ago when all of the corner talk was being rumored. This coach said "safety all the way" and "he's going to be a very good one." Outside of that, I don't really have any other news. Pretty sure all is well. Haha has a high ceiling.

quote:

There's so much young talent at Alabama right now, but the defensive player that may have the most upside is LaMichael Fanning. According to my source, he's going to get a lot of attention this spring. "He is absolutely unblockable ... he probably has the highest ceiling of any player on defense and that says a lot. He's the nicest, quietest kid off the field, but on the field he is unblockable. They are bringing him along, but he has a chance to be a great one

quote:

The Tide is in very good shape at running back -- despite Richardson's early entry into the NFL draft. Eddie Lacy is probably one of the most underrated prospects on the team. If he stays healthy, he could have as good of a year (statistically) as Trent had this season -- although he will likely get less carriers. Lacy is a bull and has great, great feet.

Another key point is that his abilities/talents and running style work well with the Tide's offensive blocking schemes.

Hackenburg to PSU

New head coach Bill O'Brien and Penn State set out to find a top quarterback in its pivotal Class of 2013, and on Tuesday evening the Nittany Lions landed one of the nation's top signal-callers with their first commitment.

Fork Union (Va.) Military Academy quarterback Christian Hackenberg, ranked as the No. 68 prospect in the nation by 247Sports and the No. 4 pro-style signal-caller, became Penn State's first pledge.

So that leaves us with Browne or Bateman as of right now and they are both out of the West. I think that is going to be a tough pull

I'm not convinced Browne is as advertised. Maybe it's the Skyline label, but I'm not sold.

...Brayden Scott

Maybe Jon Allen can get Ryan Burns to visit. If Bama had a decent Texas line, they could get one of those QBs not going to Texas or A&M.

I was thinking JT Barrett and Cody Thomas, but Texas has good QBs in general...

I still want Conner Mitch for reasons I've already stated.

I think we are sitting in a good position for Barrett, but I prefer pro style.
