Only because LSU didn't really want her ...
... even though Mulkey offered her $1,000,000.00+, private jet rides to games for her parents and a promise that beginning with her sophmore year she would never have to attend a class ... she could take them all remotely.
But, of course, LSU didn't want her.
Dawn Staley got lucky apparently ... keeping her home, after having offered her in the 8th grade.
You don't just beat Mulkey on the recruiting trail. Staley is barely keeping-up.

What are you talking about? Of course Mulkey wanted her but it was always a long shot with her being from SC. Mulkey will probably land another top class without her though so it’s not a big deal.

Everyone thinks Sara Strong has signed with NC State .... where her Dad played ball.
Edwards signed with SC of course. Cambridge is either Florida or SC.
Blakes ... who knows. Supposedly UConn but seeing is believing.
I don't see LSU in the Top 100 until #98?
But last year's class was so strong ... and there's the transfer portal soooooooo .....
Not sure Mulkey will sign a "top class" but she'll sign what she needs. You can't always get what you want .... but if you try sometimes, you just might sign ... and get what you neeeeeed. ~ Rolling Stones
ETA: I just crunched the numbers.
If it ended today LSU would finish 8th in the conference:
1 - SC (Overall best class in the country AND the conference)
3 - TX
3 - UF (provided they get Cambridge)
4 - MSU
5 - A&M
6 - Georgia
7 - UT
8 - LSU

Paw paw continues to melt over Mulkey 
I’m going to safely assume LSU will be just fine. Our team is paid so well that we are probably getting most of the team back for next season anyway. Not exactly much pressure.

I was happy to see LSU hire Mulkey when they did but good god LSU fans made it a miserable off season.

Please check your blood pressure. It’s just women’s basketball, and no matter what your melt says, LSU and South Carolina are going to be the top 2 around until Kim calls it quits.

Sounds like LSU took your soul last season, and they didn’t even play in the tournament. I’m sure SC will have many more chances at titles, the two programs will be consistently near the top every year.
How is it karma upon LSU for SC to get a good recruit? It would have been shocking for her to go elsewhere.

I hate I'm talking wbb recruiting but y'all/we (process of xfinng) are in a bad spot right now...SC is still the superior program...don't lie and say if that game was played again SC wouldn't have drug LSU

We don't have to talk about what if's. We beat them by 24 when we did play.
Just in the same way we thank Miss State for their services in 2017, They should thank Iowa. Because we werent going to beat UConn and they werent going to beat us
