It's a risk, but I like that LSU is ahead of the times. We'll find out in a few years with Dylan. If Dylan and this kid pan out, other programs will follow. By then, however, LSU could be set for several more championship runs.
This. Whether or not anyone believes it's a healthy practice or not, it's the reality of the future and a few years from now, it will no longer be "news". The perfect storm of all the camps, publicity, social media & increased marketing savvy combined with ever-increasing competition for recruits nationally is fueling it. Recruiting is being forever changed unless the present rules are changed & to their credit, the LSU staff is out front.

Perhaps it is the future of recruiting, but I doubt it. Bama has zero commitments for 2016, 2017, and beyond, but I'm willing to bet that Bama will probably beat out most of the classes that have these early commits so long as Saban is still at the helm. Most early commits flip anyway. Too many unknowns that early in the process.

Then why are you so fricking concerned with LSU's recruiting business?

Doubt what you will. More & more teams will project their position needs and attempt to address them earlier. Les Miles may have been 1st but Saban's no fool, he has already recognized the trend & is doing the same thing ala, Dylan Moses. Those who are unable or unwilling to adapt will be left behind.

True. I might add that I was reminded of something I'd totally forgotten in another thread about a guy named Dale Brown who offered a very young basketball player a scholarship that turned out OK. His name, Shaquille Oneal.

For every Shaquille Oneal story there is David Sills that doesn't quite make a splash. In terms of why I care, I really don't. An LSU fan put this on the SECrb, and I'm engaging in back and forth conversation about it. If you don't want to hear what other SEC fans think about the commitment then don't put it on the SECrb.

Eh. Just because he grew up to star in "Kazaam" and "Steel", that doesn't mean a proud football program like LSU should go around offering every young kid a schollie on the off-chance that he too will one day star in awful Hollywood vanity projects.

Shazzam is a cinematic masterpiece.

You ever heard of AAU basketball? That's what football recruiting is heading to with the advent of 7v7 leagues, ESPN televising games, camps, and the UA game, and hudl. Sorry that LSU is just ahead of the curve.

Am I not allowed to respond to people who respond to my posts? I don't know why this was posted on the SECrb unless the OP wanted to hear discussion. If you wanted to hear about how innovative LSU is instead of how ridiculous this is then it should have been left on the LSUrb.

ULSU stacked, SEC fricked... in 2020.

In response, Saban has offered scholarships to all of CJ Moseley's 6,000,000 sperm cells.

Yeah, chattabama really doesn't know enough about the situation to give an intelligent opinion, but he'll give one anyway.

On the contrary, I find humor in the stupid, knee-jerk reactions from this board.
