Why does it freakin matter if he is a transfer or out of high school. That is a distinction without a difference. (Sorry to UGA fans for hijacking this thread and raining on your big day with our Auburn babble. :) )

Because in between the years of having to find another quality transfer, we have to deal with these sub par HS QB's. For example 2011-2012 and 2015-2016. (Granted I don't count 2012 just bc it was that awful, not just the QB situation). I have dreams of what AU football could be, but it won't ever get there if this is the continuing cycle. We can only hope Willis and Gatewood make it a seamless transition from Stidham and if it doesn't work, we'll find another transfer I'm sure. That's the joy of being an AU fan I guess.
Like he said UGA fans I apologize.

Fair enough. I can understand your point. Yes, in a perfect world it would be best to have a player like Stidham for 3 or 4 years instead of 1 or 2 years.

Everybody has their opinions, that's just mine. In the end I give Gus credit because his ability to get quality transfers keeps us from falling apart completely. If I wasn't on mobile I would give you a cheers!

Sorry for calling you a moron. It's too easy for me to act like a douche bag when I can type mean words from hundreds of miles away from the recipient in complete anonymity.

I know what you mean and I'm sorry as well. I generally try not to engage in name calling, but if you give it to me, I'm going to give it back. I still consider myself a rookie around this place, so I pick and choose my battles carefully. Hahaha

6th grade is a stretch. Mike Bobo didn't like him at qb for some reason
It's not a stretch. His handler...er, mentor was taking him to Clemson games since he was in elementary school.
Edit: and Bobo was an idiot for not offering until Ramsey signed.

Auburn fans,
An insider hooked into Fields recruitment says Gus lost Fields when he tried to negative recruit against Kirby and UGA. Is that a staple of Gus' recruiting strategy?

quote:Interesting, I have never heard any stories before of Gus using that strategy. Most Auburn fans complain about how other teams negatively recruit against us, but we don't negatively recruit back. If that is true, then Gus is deploying new strategies.

He's a very big Cam fan, which makes it even more puzzling that we were one of the last in the SEC to offer him.
Maybe JF's not a fan of sexist overtones in press conferences...

The ratings are the same composite and 247 numerically, but they were before as well and Lawrence was still the #1. They explicitly placed Fields above Lawrence... so while it is the slimmest of margins, they do have him higher, insofar as they don't have ties.
I'm not arguing which kid is 1 or 2; I'm simply pointing out that Fields isn't the consensus #1 by every service as was previously stated by another poster.
I don't think I'm disparaging him by stating facts. They all agree he's got every tool a top QB needs.

You're slanting things a bit is all. If you had left it with the Rivals and Scout rankings, you would have been stating facts. Claiming that he is "tied for #1" is inaccurate, since while the ratings *numbers* are equivalent, 247 has elected to place Fields at 1 and Lawrence at 2, and similarly that's where they've ended up at QB (for now)...
Who knows how it all shakes out after the season, but at least at present, that was all I was clarifying.

Between JF and TL who plays on the better team?
Posted on 10/6/17 at 3:38 pm to jcolding41
Lawrence plays on a better team.

Lawrence and it isn't close.

We talking about better supporting cast or team that plays against better competition (or both)?

Both. JF did play Rome who won state I think so they don't play slouches. If JF plays better competition on a lesser team than TL that definitely makes JF look better.

Lawrence has the better support staff around him. I think Harrison played the tougher OOC schedule.
Edit: just looked. Cartersville played one pretty good team and Harrison played one great and one pretty good team.
