Very exaggerated, but yes.
Don't get me wrong, I can agree the incident may have been overblown. But it's pretty well known up here that the kid has some attitude issues and this was before the 7 on 7 incident. There's generally one of two ways a kid like that goes, he either plays with a chip on his shoulder and wins some games or he implodes under the weight of his own bullshite.

I'm not saying you're wrong, but where is all of this coming from? Before that incident, I didn't hear anybody questioning his attitude. Now that it happened and he committed to Auburn, people act like this has been a well-known fact and he's a horrible kid

I could see a 6-6 phenom QB with an NFL dad having a crappy attitude... but he's a high school junior... he'll grow up.

I mean I can't speak for people outside of the state of Kentucky and I've watched the kid for awhile being up here. I know UK had been recruiting him for some time before they started actively pursuing Patrick Towles (I believe they saw the writing on the wall with Pike and he was upfront with them about where they stood so they moved on) but anytime he was ever brought up in convo with high school coaches and some former UK guys who are down in that part of the state the phrase "5-star talent but has a bit of an attitude" has been the most consistent comments about him.
Take it for what it's worth I suppose, but like I said this was long before his AU commitment.
EDIT: And FTR I'm not saying he's a complete piece of shite, just that comments about his attitude aren't exactly baseless.

5 star athletes are usually phenoms in high school

probably... I'm just saying the kid is a five star recruit with an NFL dad... it's not a shocker that he might have an attitude problem.

Does anyone think that Pike's dad would let his son commit to AU if there was any sign that AU would get into trouble?
I doubt if Pike's father has any more insight into the situation that we do. But on the surface, from a general public perspective, there is cause for concern when the father of the key player on Auburn's championship team admits that he marketed his son's services for money and the rationale of the NCAA ruling lacks credibility based on their own rules.

but why punish Auburn by the actions of another institution's (MSU) boosters and the player's father?

After securing Pike (His friend's son) does this mean Ted Roof is a lock at DC for the next few years? He has been a good recruiter for AU on the defensive side.
