They paid that team for the practice. They are practicing on side kicks.

Tennessee paid them. Take the lumps or give the money back.

this is why we shouldn't have participation trophies.

$1.5 million dollars.
ND paid NIU $1.4 million to practice losing.
We got a good deal.

Holtz, speaking to Mark May on The Crowd's Line, said he and Bowden got candid at the conclusion of the 1970 football game between William & Mary and West Virginia. Holtz, then in his second season as William & Mary's head coach, said he was unhappy with Bowden for running up the score late in what was Bowden's debut game as West Virginia's head coach. The Mountaineers won the game 43-7. Bowden, however, quickly silenced Holtz when confronted by the then 33-year-old William & Mary coach.
"There were three times I had a problem at midfield (in my career)," Holtz told May. "Usually you try to congratulate (the other coach) and say something positive about the other team. However I was a young coach and William & Mary and we were playing up in Morgantown (at WVU). I was raised in West Virginia and all my friends were there. It was a close ball game later ... and then they end up beating us by at least 24. I got to coach Bobby Bowden after and said 'Bobby, we're friends! Why did you run the score up?' And he told me 'it's your obligation to hold the score down. If you don't like this score then recruit better and coach better. But don't ask me to lower my level of performance to yours.'"

Heupel is like a ninja — he attacks when you least expect it.

What’s wrong with this?
I’m always in the camp that if you don’t want another team doing this to you, then stop them from doing it to you.

It had to be because a local eatery was running a "free burger or taco for every Vol TD" promotion, right?

BS. As Spurrier used to say, It's your job to stop us, it's not my job to stop what we are doing.

Really? Heupel has Oklahoma, Bama & Georgia coming up, so what's wrong with getting in some practice? You can try this in practice all day but you need to know how it's going to work in a real game. Not their fault Kent didn't recover it along with Kent who chose not to keep a running clock. Listen I've seen Bama Georgia & even Ole Miss score a ton, try different things wind up killing the other team & no shits are given, but let TN do it & we have no class...smh

Heupel offered to amend the clock and have shortened quarters.
Kent State refused.
He tried to ease up on them, they liked the pain.

He is a POS, but I don't agree with taking the foot off the pedal mentality. It's not his fault Kent st sucks so bad. Play YOUR Gane and work on things your team needs to work on. That onside kick live practice may benefit his team later in the season when its needed. Plus...with the playoff system now...teams have to not only win, but, win with style points...it is what it is.

I like coaches that let the backups play. When else can you comfortably practice these kinds of plays?

Tennessee was standing on Business. Can’t help that Missouri barely survived.

Agreed. P4/5 schools + Notre Dame schould play 11 games against each other and a maximum of one G5 game. Eliminate FCS games. And I am fully aware Mizzou scheduled three participation games this season. I hate it. We should play some combination of Kansas, Illinois, Nebraska, Kansas State, Colorado, and Iowa State every season for our non-conference slate. Plus throw in an ACC or non-conference Texas school for ‘cruitin’.
