Thats not how it works. If Deboer came in and tried to be Saban, it would also be a disaster. Look at Coach O at LSU. He had the magical 2019 season and then when Joe Brady left, he kept trying to hire guys to run the Joe Brady System. Saban was a unicorn, no one was coming in and replicating that. DeBoer HAS to do things his way. He can't try to pretend to be the GOAT.

That's only one of Bama's problems this year though. They don't appear to have that dominant edge rusher that they usually have and are softer in the secondary than usual. Saban probably knew what he was doing when he retired.

They also had a bunch of guys transfer out that probably stay if Saban is still coaching. That hurts your depth and experience.

Milroe is a great college qb but he is not the guy for running the offense that DeBoer likes to run. DeBoer had Michael Pennix last year, a guy who stood in the pocket and delivered strike after strike.

I generally agree with this. I also think that Alabama isn’t utilizing Milroe’s legs enough given that he isn’t a true pocket passer. I’m not sure whether that’s because Milroe is trying to prove that he can be a pocket passer or the coaches are trying to make him into one. Whatever the case, I believe the offense would be much more dynamic if he were running more and there were more of a balance between running him and letting him pass.

I said many times there is no offense if they lose Williams. We saw how dependent Milroe is on that one receiver. He expects to throw the ball in his direction and he will catch it.

Imagine Milroe & the boys in a triple option. Ryan Williams, even though hes built totally differently, could be Calvin Johnson 2.0

DeBoer isn't Saban, and it isn't fair to expect him to try to be Saban. If he is going to succeed, he is going to do it his own way on his own terms.

Once Michigan showed you how to scheme against his offense, it gave the blueprint in how to defend an offense like that.

Then it got worse when their REAL DC landed to us.

It doesn't matter if Milroe is a running QB, still have to adjust the offense based on personnel and DeBore has failed to do that.
