Because the discussion is about being among the 12 best teams rather than being able to win the championship.

I think the fact we are arguing about these shitty teams just highlights the format and 12 teams is stupid.

But it's quite a bit different argument between being able to win a national championship and being better than some of the other teams that made it.

I'm kind of glad that Alabama didn't make the playoffs in the sense that we didn't have a chance anyway, but I'm not going to pretend like all these other teams are better either.
