They're in denial about that.

No we aren't, we just don't require a top 5 defense to win our games for us like CLM. A top 30, hell even top 50 defense will pretty much put us in a position to win all of our games on offense. Obviously Sumlin believes he can get that out of Chief.

head scratcher for sure. A&M was going to plummet before this but now they'll be stable. this hire is a program saver.

For an average team, maybe. Don't forget that we are talking about TAMU. This will help them but lets not go overboard.

Absolutely. I can take him or leave him, but I think we'll end up with a quality coordinator who isn't asking for a head coach type buyout clause in the contract.

With a competent DC last year we win the NC. Nobody could stop our O. Nobody.

This whole season has just been one big bitter pill. Cameron is proven and has the bona fides but failed miserably this year...watching an ND 1st game starter zip the ball around, tOSU going to the CFP with a 3rd stringer...I mean frick me. Chavis probably got tired of putting out pretty good D's just to see us go 3&out routinely. Just need the hoops team to get the last seed in March Madness so they can play undefeated Kentucky, maybe go to Omaha and lose the first two games. Wonderful

Nobody? What are you talking about? LSU made Manziel their bitch both years.

This late in the major coaching searches you aren't getting anyone that is "available" because no one is.

You might get Durkin since I have been told that he prefers the SEC over Michigan.

You aren't getting Venables, Foster, or Pelini.

So basically, you're going to have to give a DC with an existing contract a raise to come. But TAMU and Auburn have raised the bar on how much a quality DC is going to make.

If LSU wasn't willing to go over 1.3 for freaking Chavis, a guy who is one of the premier defensive coordinators in the college game right now, why would they even be willing to go over 1.0 for some lesser known coordinator? The only other option is to hire a position coach or an NFL guy (unlikely in my opinion because CLM won't want that).

It will be interesting to see if LSU is willing to pay for a good coordinator (that I have no doubt they can get if they are willing to pay) or not.

Your defense has never been a problem against LSU. It's the offense that couldn't do much of anything.

Touché.

Mizzou we would have beat and still won the west. So I still stand by my NC statement.

Completely delusional. LSU stopped Manziel two years in a row.
