I think when a small school makes the move to Div 1, they have to play a certain number of Div 1 opponents first. Are small schools being squeezed out of moving up?

That's an interesting point to bring up. They have to play some D1 schools so I guess they will now be stuck playing Memphis and getting pennies for it as oppose to what they make for playing an SEC team

I'm betting Sam Houston (NC Runner up in FCS last 2 years) would beat at least 3 or 4 Big 1G teams last year

They prolly could of beat 4 SEC teams last year. Possibly 5.

It's stupid to think a game against Tulane or Memphis is tougher than Sam Houston State, or any number of FCS teams

I know from personal experience that there are some pretty nice parts of Michigan (Ann Arbor is one of them). I don't personally know of any in Ahia, but I'm willing to believe they also exist.

You're probably right, but that wouldn't be funny.

Just a cursory review of the Big10 schedules - At the time the game was played, no Big10 team played anyone ranked in the top 10 (except Michigan v Alabama) and no one beat anyone in the top 20 (except Ohio State over 19 Michigan and Iowa over 17 Mich State). Northwestern and Indiana faced no team ranked in the top 25 all season. Tell Yahoo to get back to us on the strength-of-schedule thing...
