Gotta give him credit--at least he was willing to play the game this weekend, unlike McElwain.

How's Lovie Smith doing so far for the Illini?

Serious question...was Fedora contacted and if not, would he turn down sC to stay at UNC?

We beat UNC last year as bad as we were. I bet that factored significantly in the decision making process.

WTF?
TT9 just told the truth with no apparent agenda whatsoever ... first time for everything I guess. Live long enough and you'll see it all.

As a Gamecock i havnt a clue
I was not pleased almost depressed when he was announced. Then he started recruiting his arse off like no coach weve ever had.
Then the season started and no matter the opponent we cannot score in the first half nor can we score more than 14 pts.
I apologize to all of you guys that i got snippy with especially Florida fans. I didnt believe the bs but now i know its true.

He was brought in cause he is younger, high energy and can recruit. Not to mention the staff he brought with him.
This team is young and full of late Spurrier garbage. If he ends up failing with his players, the next guy is loaded. Our OL is hot garbage who couldn't run block through a wet tissue, Sean Elliot has been here 6 years he has to go. Kept for a bit on continuity for the new staff. They have bridged after this season time to get an FBS lvl coach and recruiter at the OL.

Muschamp is a top 5 recruiter in College football. South Carolina is devoid of talent currently. They had 11 win seasons when they were cranking out 1st rd picks and signing blue chip talent.
They have no Marcus Lattimore, Alshon Jeffrey, Stephon Gilmore, Melvin Ingram, Chris Gulliver, or Clowney type of players currently on the roster.
Muschamp was hired to restock the roster. If he does not produce then the next coach will have pieces to work with similar to McElwain.
This is exactly why I was excited for the hire. Even if he doesn't work out the next guy that comes in will have talent because of how good a recruiter Muschamp is.

I agree with the OP. Maybe if he inherited a loaed team you give him the benefit of the doubt with good assistants, but a chump for a rebuilding job makes no sense.

Huh?

Noone established would coherently volunteer to take the shite roster and class at the time. Had to get someone who was a proven recruiter to build a new foundation. It makes perfect sense, not defending him just the logic behind the decision.

This Insert number into your rivals name to troll them has got to stop... it's beyond lame.

Florida underachieved with Muschamp his last two seasons, but with a good coach, UF went to Atlanta in McElwain's first season. If Muschamp can bring us good recruits, even if he stinks as a coach, you'd have to think his successor would be in a good position to win immediately.

Glad Georgia hired a D.C. Coordinator who has never been in full control of a defense as HC to replace a perrenial 10 win coach with multiple SEC championships.

In his defense he didn't have anything to work with this year so he has a few years to see what he can do at SC. I wasn't impressed with the hire but won't rule out that he could be successful this time as a HC. It's pretty hard to be successful at South Carolina.

Not sure if serious. He's a great recruiter at stocking the DL, RB and DBs. He's awful everywhere else. It was frightening how SCAR looked just like UF under WM watching that game. They even got the Undersized 5'10 QB down to a T.
